The songs of "Rudaali" which the rest of the country except Assam & Bengal listened for the first time in 1992 or 1993 when the film was released , are actually much older than that. All the songs were originally composed, written & sung by Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in 1950s & 1960s. For example the legendary "Dil Hoom Hoom Kare" was written, composed and sung by Dr. Hazarika in 1962 in the backdrop of Chinese aggression. The song was used for an Assamese movie " Maniram Dewan" in 1963 which was later transcreated into Bengali & used in an award winning film from Bangladesh. "Simana Periye" . After 30 long years, the same tune was used in Hindi & yet it became a classic !
I am already listen Assami version, Bhupanda was a good music composer but not a good singer like Lathaji. I like Lathaji's version Dil hoon hoon kare not Buku Hom Hom Kore.isliye Dil hoon hoon Kare hit ho gaya.
This movie music collection was 3 crores at that time. Sadly director Bhupen Hazarika didn't get a single penny for his wonderful work. He himself told abt this in an All India Radio interview.
