- Turning random firewood on the lathe. In this woodturning video I am turning a piece of firewood into something useful. It is an oil lamp. I used a small jar and a piece of cotton string for the wick. I left the top natural for a rustic look. I used my friction polish for the finish. I hope you enjoy the this new woodturning video.

Another stunning item from an old bit of wood. You are a true craftsman. I can't get enough of your videos.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
I'm glad you enjoy them!
I like that shear cut that took away all the turn end grain. 👌
That's a good technique to learn. It can save a lot of sanding.
I like that a whole lot!!! Great idea
Thank you!
I'm glad you like it!
You have some of the greatest ideas !! Nice work.
Thank you larry!
I try to keep things interesting.
Appreciate you watching!
Another great save from the fire stack. Well done!
Thank you Doug!
I appreciate you watching!
I'm very new to wood turning and have found your videos inspiring mainly because, I cant afford to buy the expensive wood for turning then mess it up. You've shown me I can turn some interesting items by using small cheap wood pieces, thank you👍
Thank you! I appreciate that!
I can't afford it either. I have to tell you I find more fun and joy turning what is considered trash into something beautiful and most of the time useful. It's not what you start with. It's what you make of it.
Thanks for watching!
Yet another great idea! This may seem odd, but to me the red along the bottom of your thumbnail template makes it look like I have previously watched the video. This one was a very distinctive picture, but from the main screen here on YT we don't see how long ago the video was uploaded until we click on the thumbnail. Anywho... just a thought. Thanks for the uploads!
Edit: never mind... I'm an idiot, I just didn't pay attention to the time since upload! LOL but still the template makes it look like it was previously viewed which can affect clicks when scrolling your channel page.
Thank you!
I'm glad you like it!
I adjusted the color, so hopefully it will be better.
Thanks for letting me know!
Good idea.
Thank you!
That’s really nice
Thank you Richard!
Appreciate you watching!
That’s another nice piece. And we had ducks? music in the background as an added bonus 🌞
Thank you Ray!
They were instructing me so I get it right.

Perfekt! Super Idee!
Thank you!
Looks like a dangerous way to mount the wood to the screw.
Ya, my lathe spins to fast for that.
What brand is your lathe? How long have you been turning on it?
It's a harbor freight. I've been using it around 4 years.
May I ask what polish you are using?
Friction polish. Made with shellac.
