Can firewood be pretty? - Woodturning

- Welcome to today's woodturning project! In this video I am turning this big and ugly log in combination with purple colored resin. I made a simple bowl, that looks pretty interesting. For the finish I used as always Danish oil.

The piece of wood us lovely and the grain is beautiful I like the purple resin it brings the white of the wood out. I love the markings and the colours, the bowl is really really magnificent. You really are very talented and a masterwoodturner. Amanda x

Wonder what it would have looked like with clear or very light yellowish resin.
Whether you call it firewood or not it still is useable for turning. The end result is outstanding. The blue resin really is beautiful. It is a shame that so much of the resin winds up on the shop floor as shavings. A lot of the wood does too but the wood grows on trees, the resin does not. Thank you for sharing. Fantastic Bowl. Good choice in color for the Resin. Do you have any idea on the species of wood? It has some beautiful colors and grains.

Looks great but I think the wood was too wet for epoxy
What I don't get is why don't most of these channels all use purple dye

The purple parts reminds me of a Bowling Ball! 🙄
Actually not firewood, just a piece of a log. Firewood is 16" long split from a log into several pieces.
