Parajumpers is a great jacket. However, it is expensive. My recommendation is to find an on line surplus store and buy a new or used military parka or short parka for less than half the price and you have the real deal. Not some designer version of what it should look like.

I live in a warm climate where we only see a couple weeks of winter weather per year. An expensive coat isn't a great investment given how little I'll wear it. I did, however, recently purchase a preowned tweed overcoat on eBay. It looks like it will last for decades, so I should get my money's worth out of it.

I always smile when Ash says for chubbier guys to layer their sweaters under something because it's often just not cold enough to do that where I live. I definitely need the sweater, but not a coat, let alone a sweater +coat. So. She's 100% right, I do look better with a coat or a sweater under a coat. But I don't want to be overheated for no reason when everyone else is just wearing a hoody or a sweater.

Why not wear a lightweight jacket (without the sweater) instead?

2:39 nice for putting an image of my beautiful city Medellín. Here, despite the current rainy season, it's weather is relatively stable throughout the year.

It’s tougher for us shorter torso guys to find a thin crewneck sweater that doesn’t extend well below the belt buckle. Sucks cause they’re really versatile and work well in my warmer SoCal climate.

What do you think of Pendleton coats and jackets? Are they too tacky? If you approve of them how would you style them?

Zip neck sweaters are crucial knitwear that can act as v neck or turtle neck depending on if zipped up or not. Zip through cardigans ideal too.

Same for quarter zip jerseys which I'm a fan of. Sonoma goods for life makes some that are very comfortable and affordable

I know puffer jackets are practical, but are they stylish? I've seen them look good, but often they look just like what they are. Puffed-up plasticky-looking material made more to keep you warm than look sleek, or rugged, or any words you'd associate with a stylish piece. I don't hate them, but I don't own one. Thoughts? Love or hate?

I got a heavy duty jacket that I got as a gift that came with a removable liner that resembles a puffer jacket. I honestly don’t look stylish with it, but instead makes me look bigger than what I am. Have lots of other casual jackets and coats that look more rugged and stylish, that I really don’t miss owning a puffer jacket at all. I think people should buy something that will make them happy, not just to have a jacket of a certain kind if it doesn’t make you feel or look good when wearing it. ✌🏽

I have a Arcteryx Cerium LT and I only use it when it’s actually cold and outdoors because it’s loud and fragile. It’s designed to keep you alive outdoors: something very overkill for the city IMO. A big sweater is just as effective and more durable, just not exactly portable and packable like a outdoor puffer.
For casual and streetwear looks it’s great but TBH I’ll always default to a heavy sweater.

They are not stylish. They add more weight to my body, restrict my movement by a lot and do not look good. In our country we cannot even wear it comfortably because its never that cold here.

A “thin puffer/semi-puffer” can look stylish.
For a sophisticated look, pair a black puffer with light/charcoal grey trousers/chinos & for causal, go with grey/navy denim. You can wear a blue/grey oxford shirt beneath or even a grey sweater/sweatshirt. Avoid sneakers!

I noticed a lot of winter items that she did NOT recommend, are what everyone in my city wears. If you dress in what Ashley recommends you get called certain offensive words. That’s the fun part though. Not caring.

Double breasted overcoats can only be worn buttoned up. Guess I've been wearing mine wrong all these years. I also sometimes layer it with a denim jacket. That's probably wrong too. Next time I see a guy with his coat open I'll make sure to tell him he needs to button it up because you're only supposed to wear double breasted overcoats buttoned up.
