I just rediscovered Jerry Lee days before my 80th birthday and seeing him from the earliest to the latter days of his fabulous run made me both smile and cry like a baby. God created only one Jerry Lee Lewis and then threw away the mold. For those who never saw him in his prime, enjoy these glimpses back because there never will be another with his unique talent and skills. "Killer" was one wild and crazy guy before anyone knew what a wild and crazy guy was.

I was lucky and was at Sony studios it was the last day of filming this special,I will never forget seeing The Killer.When he took a break they asked me to stop singing that it was coming thru the mix.
We heard him at Chautauqua Institute about 20 yrs ago and he was about an hr late. The band started without him..all of a sudden the crowd roared and in walked Jerry. He kicked off Whole lotta Shakin and brought down the house…at the end he kicked out the piano bench with his butt and stood playing and sitting on the piano using his feet…couldn’t believe it. The crowd roared all the while. Three Dog Night was his opening act. Great great show

If it wasn’t for the cousin thing, Jerry Lee Lewis would have surpassed Elvis. He was so much more talented in every way. There’s even a story where Elvis‘s friends kept saying how good Jerry Lee Lewis was after he stopped by Graceland to jam with Elvis and Elvis turned around, And said, “that Jerry Lee Lewis is a genius.” Elvis had full support of the entertainment industry, and Jerry Lee had to escape his past indiscretions. JLL surpasses Elvis on voice and mastery of his instrument in my opinion. Elvis is a better actor.
Jerry Lee Lewis was way better than ours. He had that huge roadblock at the beginning of his career with the cousin, But when it comes to singing in mastery of their instrument, there’s no contest. Every time Elvis went to play a chord, his fingers just plopped down on the strings and then went to the chord by like the second or third strum. Jerry Lee Lewis was playing the best piano ever, while singing like Hank Williams Senior and staring off into space or doing something amazingly intricate, spontaneous, and cool as hell. Jerry Lee Lewis was the killer and the king.

If it wasn’t for the cousin thing, Jerry Lee Lewis would have surpassed Elvis. He was so much more talented in every way. There’s even a story where Elvis‘s friends kept saying how good Jerry Lee Lewis was after he stopped by Graceland to jam with Elvis and Elvis turned around, And said, “that Jerry Lee Lewis is a genius.” Elvis had full support of the entertainment industry, and Jerry Lee had to escape his past indiscretions. JLL surpasses Elvis on voice and mastery of his instrument in my opinion. Elvis is a better actor.
Jerry Lee Lewis was way better than ours. He had that huge roadblock at the beginning of his career with the cousin, But when it comes to singing in mastery of their instrument, there’s no contest. Every time Elvis went to play a chord, his fingers just plopped down on the strings and then went to the chord by like the second or third strum. Jerry Lee Lewis was playing the best piano ever, while singing like Hank Williams Senior and staring off into space or doing something amazingly intricate, spontaneous, and cool as hell. Jerry Lee Lewis was the killer and the king.
