I love James Corden. He is humorous and yet vunerable and confident at same time. A great interview.
James saying "Young people, if you can find the thing that you’re good at there’s an incredible amount of confidence that comes from that" is the most powerful thing anyone can say. Let kids know that they can do what they want...be happy. It's what I try to tell my students.
Alex Storms I am sure your students greatly appreciate you telling them that, this is such an important lesson to learn in life. It makes me happy to hear a teacher who genuinely cares for what's best for the students.

I mean, who else has the guts to sing with a star, much less have the ability to just belt it out, with not just one or two of the greatest pop, rap, and rock stars, but with legends, and first ladies?

In the same way they gave Craig Ferguson a shot, Craig had no talk show experience at all, but Peter Lassally (former Johnny Carson and David Letterman producer) felt he was right after a guest host appearance, and gave him the chance in 2005.
What an amazing, genuine, wonderful man. I remember him from History Boys, then Doctor Who. Really happy for him and all his successes!
James - You are so right when you said, while in school "do what you like"... focus on that! My brother, whose name is also James, was told by my mum (American / Berkeley) to do this many moons ago in England! He struggled with Dyslexia - that was not recognized in England during the mid 70's, even to the point of wanting to institutionalize him! Needless to say, when we moved to California, he won not one, but two art awards. His life is a success; more so, than any of us other kids. He married a lady from Tawain, has travelled excessively with his two girls. He now lives in one of the most expensive areas in Northern California - Palo Alto, and works at Stanford University, and has for many years!
I love the story how he met his wife it's just beautiful and honest person .
I absolutely miss James Corden. He was one of the BEST late night show hosts in the US. I still miss him and his cast. Carpool karaoke and crosswalk musicals are a couple of my favorite things I love about James Corden.

how can I really tell you how honest and moving I found this interview. I had experiences that made me know when the time was right to go home. I am Canadian and my son is now living in Dorking...I am not sure if either of us are ready for the phone call as you say,,,you are so lucky to be able to jump and be able to afford the next step.

Yeah. I'm actually really happy when I see performers able to give an interview without being "on" all the time. It makes me think they're going to be ok. When I see people who aren't able for whatever reason to turn it off, like the late and beloved Robin Williams, my heart aches for them a bit.

He came to the US to MAKE MONEY and up his fame. Otherwise he would have stayed there.

@kathryn white - You need to look up the Graham Norton Show - It's based in the UK and he gets pretty much all the celebrities that James does. I agree late night TV is a whole other ballgame in the US even in Canada we don't have any Late Night TV hosts we get all the ones from the US but you can see in this interview that he is homesick and he misses his family so I'm not sure how much longer he will do it over there. He seems to have a good crowd whenever he's in the UK so you never know maybe he can do half a year in the US and half a year in the UK. That way he can be close to his family.
