- Deadly Magnet Fishing Catch (Could Have Killed someone)
Our most deadly magnet fishing catch to date, magnet fishing finds don’t get more deadly than this! It could have killed someone! We pulled out a live WW2 mills grenade. The bomb squad usually take grenades away to somewhere quiet and carry out a controlled explosion. When the bomb squad examined and x-rayed our grenade they deemed it to be too unstable to move. The greanade could have exsploded at any time!! The grenade had to be blown up at the side of the river where it was found. Nearby homes had to be evacuated for safety.
Lots of people ask us which magnet fishing magnet we use. If you would like to know which magnets we use for magnet fishing and where to buy them from here is a link to them. If you type in the code 10off at the checkout you will receive 10% off your first order!

The volume of stuff at the bottom of our lakes, rivers and tributaries is ridiculous. Thank you for cleaning up
It certainly is! Nothing we pull out surprises us anymore, you name it we’ve found it. Hopefully our videos help spread awareness of this unseen pollution. Thanks for watching 👍

Thank goodness for magnet fishers for cleaning waterways. I'm not sure many valuables are found, but the joy of finding things and discovering is thrilling.
The value of cleaning the waterways is immeasurable. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment, cleaning the waterways is the main reason we like to magnet fish, if we find something of interest along the way it’s a bonus! We hope that our videos help to highlight just how badly polluted our waterways are. Hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching 👍
g what happens with all the bigger items you pull out do the council remove them oh do you have to take it to the dump thinking of doing some myself
Im going to mention to the scrap guys in my town to do this instead of digging through peoples trash
So who calls the scrap man to come and collect all that dangerous old crap? I hope you don't just leave it piled up
Thing i like most about watching any magnet fishers is all the junk they pull out of the waterways that was put there by mindless idiots.. good work guys 👌

I was thinking the exact same thing! He's also teaching him to care about cleaning up this world and being environmentally responsible.
Interesting. Never found a fragmentation grenade, but I did once find an artillery shell - only a little one about a foot long and around three inches in diameter. I also carried it a good mile or so home. My mother wasn't impressed. I took it to the nearest phone box and called in the cavalry - well, the police. They turned up in a Mini, three of them. And one was the biggest bloke I'd ever seen. There was an inspector, a sergeant, and a constable driving. I can only imagine that car was like the T.A.R.D.I.S. - bigger on the inside. They put the shell in the boot, all piled back in, and left me with, "if it goes off on the way we'll come back and haunt you." Wasn't magnet fishing, though. That was back at the end of the 1970s with my first metal detector. The bomb squad from Catterick came out and blew it up. I'd have had my picture on the cover of the Manchester Evening News, except the duty photographer was out following Maggie Thatcher around. So much for my 15 minutes of fame.
.
Prof Sakharov what a great story thanks for sharing it with us! Pleased no one got hurt and you were never haunted! We do a lot of metal detecting, I’ve been a detectorist for 30 plus years. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Prof Sakharov lovely story to be honest
Thatcher was a bit 'explosive' in more ways than one. The devastation she left behind her..
Thankfully no one was hurt !
My ex brother in law found two “things” in the crawl space of their house when he was a kid. The house had a basement and as you went down the stairs you could see in the space between the house and the ground. Anyway he was playing with these things and wired them up to batteries, they were blasting caps and blew up in his face. Amazingly he was reaching over them when they blew so the shrapnel hit the underside of his arms mostly protecting his face, luckily he was not blinded. He is almost 60 years old and still gets shrapnel surfacing in his arms ! This was in Park Rapids Minnesota USA, not sure why there were blasting caps in that house ?
rnupnorthbrrr SM Thanks for sharing this story, he was extremely lucky that day!!!
ok...who else wanted to see the bomb guys set off the grenade?
Thank you for your comment, unfortunately we got moved away, all nearby homes were evacuated. It was too dangerous to be around when it was detonated. We did get the actual footage of our previous 2 live grenades that we found being blown up,will post a link to the video czcams.com/video/e1vGBLHx9-c/video.html The explosion at the end of the video is our 2 grenades being destroyed 👍
I totally agree I wanted to see that grenade go kaboom!!!!
Anonymous 1970 yeah. Wish they’d do a follow up telling how they set it off.
They don't actually set them off. They explode something else (controlled in a container) that destroys the bomb/grenade/whatever.
Lee Keels well the sandbags say something else
Among all the channels I see that do Magnet Fishing, and especially among the ones that find explosives, I've noticed an upsetting amount that seem to enjoy embellishing what actually happens. And they even seem to treat what their doing more as treasure hunting than helping clean the environment.
It's nice to see a channel take such responsibility and not actually embellish what's happened. You found a live hand grenade, more specifically, unless my eyes failed me, a fragmentation one. That is very deadly. Good work boys.
Thank you for your comment, we are pleased to hear that that is how we come across to viewers.. We take finding explosives/guns etc very seriously. Hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching 👍

13:35 the pattern on that tool\knife piece you found looks like the pattern found on wood rasps or an aggressive wood file. Nice to see someone / father and son being able to do something unhindered. Usually, if you are doing something like that or putting a small boat, kyak in the water, you can bet your bottom dollar it won’t be long before someone comes along and and says “oh, you can’t do that”. Same as when we were kids, we would camp in the corner of a farmers field. If you did it now, you would be told, “you can’t do that”.

On the one hand, it's cool that you live in a place where you can find cool pieces of history like this. On the other hand, I'm sorry that you live in a place where a modern war was fought nearly 100 years ago now. And the remnants of that war are so easily hidden away in such public places like this where anyone could find them, and possibly get hurt, or worse. Good on you for doing something like this, and ridding the world of rubbish, and machines designed solely to kill. I applaud you and (I assume) your son.

Thank you for your comment, I certainly didn’t want to be moving the grenade around and taking photographs of it. When you call the police and tell them that you think you have found a grenade, they ask you to take some detailed photos of it and email the photos to them. The police then forward the photographs to the bomb disposal unit. It’s to avoid wasted call outs. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Magnetic g I remover years ago in a back garden opposite me. The neighbour found an unexploded bomb while digging. It was a Friday and the police was called. They came around and taped off the area. They said keep away from it and the bomb disposal will call around Monday to defuse it. That was a joke, because half of the neighbourhood kids were around, jumping all over it.
@@Magneticg That's crazy! I understand them wanting to be sure what it is. But to have you move it around for pic's, is crazy! Are you sure they're not using you to see if it'll blow up, so they can proceed safely? 😂(not entirely serious) That just seems insane that they would want you to do anything with it, that would put you at risk.
There's no such thing as an " unstable " grenade. Stop making shit up.
What is it with bicycles in the river. Theives still bikes ride it home and then throw it in the river? I do not get it.
Thank you for your comment, you’ve probably hit the nail on the head there! We find loads of bikes wherever we go. Thanks for watching 👍👍
@Alex Burns I saw the misspelling after I hit reply. Good eye.
@Alex Burns The curse of the grammar nazi - I caught it back in the 1980s and it still manages to leap out onto the stage if I'm not paying attention. I do occasionally catch myself posting just to point out the proper use of the apostrophe, about which I wholeheartedly agree with David Mitchell - some of us spent years learning the proper usage, and now they're saying it doesn't matter. Well, can I have those wasted years back please. I have a keener need of them now.

That's crazy!! Glad you're alright though keep up the good work cleaning our environment and stay safe.😃
Thank you for your comment, it was a very crazy day! Thanks for watching 👍👍
That sky looks like a typical early spring day in Seattle !
It was a beautiful sky that day 😊
It's ashame ppl trash lakes and rivers like this.
Thank you for your comment, yes it is such a shame. If only they knew the harm it is causing 😢 thanks for watching our video 👍👍
@@Magneticg I was cat fishing at our local lake and got ahold of a decent catch, upon looking into his mouth I noticed something shiny down inside and grabbed my pliers pulling it out. A flathead screwdriver was lodged down inside. It definitely hurt water life when ppl dump in lakes and rivers. However in this case it was probably accidental, some guy probably lost it working on his boat motor.
ICUEᏉERᎽᏇHERE TM the trash has a massive impact on wildlife, really pleased you were able to help the fish! We have seen dead fish trapped in between the metal grid work of shopping carts that have been thrown in 😢
Its a shame, but it keeps up magnet fishermen fed and operation. At least this way we clean the waterways and line our pockets a bit. I gotta say, you and your son have stumbled upon what US magnet fishers call "Honey Holes" places you can fish all day for years and never run dry on things to find. Good luck and keep it up, guys.
That's scary, I'm gald everyone is safe and sound. Very interesting variety of finds! Goodness, that's alot of bikes! Did you ever make anything out of the gas lamp? That was a neat find.
Good to hear from you, it was a scary find, we are thankful that no one got hurt. There’s a lot of stuff in that river, we found some interesting things in there the following week. We haven’t edited or uploaded the video yet. The gas lamp is still on the to restore pile. Jus haven't had time, so busy with work at the moment. Thanks for watching 👍👍
I’m in USA, IL I just ordered All My Gear!!!

Thanks! I want to hit Al Capone’s old Hang Outs & See what I find.
Wow! Glad you're all okay from that!
Thank you for your comment, yes we were all very lucky. Hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching 👍
Great finds chaps, I enjoy your videos and like the fact it's a father son combo, the police took that grenade very serious didn't they! No taking any chances!!
I have found two large Artillery shells with my metal detector that required controlled explosions, stay safe and keep up the good content, I subscribed so I can follow your adventures 💪🏻
Thank you for your comment, yes they did take it very seriously. All nearby homes had to be evacuated. We reported the grenade to the police at around 3:15pm and it wasn’t blown up until almost midnight! All the emergency services police, ambulances and fire brigade were on the scene. Wished we’d never found it, we felt awful causing so much disruption. We do a lot of metal detecting ourselves. I have detected for 30 plus years. If you haven’t already seen it, here’s the link to our video when we returned to the spot the following week, George wanted to see where the grenade had been destroyed czcams.com/video/dDKQngvfESk/video.html
@@Magneticg thank you for treating it seriously too! You’re making Britain a little safer. Also great way to spend time with your son. Love those video. All the best!
