Sitama always holds back. In the opening credits of season 1 when it shows the consecutive normal punches they are all right hands. I don't know how many people here have seen The Princess Bride but saitama is left-handed. Every one of his punches has been right hand but if you watch episode 1 when he meets the crab he's holding his briefcase and his left hand when he removes his necktie to fight him he uses his left hand and then wraps it around his left hand. You Wrap the hand you're punching with. Beside somebody is Left-Handed and has only thrown right-handed punches he's even stronger than they realize

Fan theory: Saitama wasn't holding his breath because he thought he couldn't breathe, he was doing it to "pop" his ears due to the dramatic altitude change. Once he has achieved equilibrium he holds his breath to make sure it doesn't happen again as he jumps back. He never once worried about his ability to breathe because he could breathe. "Space" doesn't mean nothing is there, just that there is very little stuff there. So he can breathe and survive on the microscopic amount of oxygen in the "vacuum" of space.

there was a cool theory that i saw that explained his overwhelming power in a satisfying way. saitamas true power is to be able to do anything he thinks is possible. he's not smart enough to know the laws of physics in complete detail which is why he's able to pick up garous portals, because he doesn't realize it should be impossible and thinks it is. but when it comes to obvious stuff then he cant do it.
everyone knows humans cant fly, and since he admitted to not being able to, he doesn't truly believe its possible and isnt able to do it. it explains pretty much everything he does, because his stupidity allows him to believe that his tiny amount of training was enough for him to become as strong as he is which is why he is actually as strong as he is.

It will never be full power. Saitama has no limiter. Meaning the one punch man universe and its physical laws have no hold on him. The only reason he's fighting is because he's pissed and he can. Saitama doesn't transform, he doesn't get stronger. He is just overpowered enough to end things the way he wants them to end at any given time. He will ALWAYS be holding back. And for proof of this, you need only look at God. He is scared shitless of Saitama and will not dare appear before him to fight. He grants others power hoping that somehow he will be killed on some fluke. The God of their universe knows what Saitama is and what him not having a limiter means. Simply put, Saitama has made himself the one above God. But at the same time, Saitama is too simplistic to realize or care what is really going on. But that's part of and precisely how he pulled off the feat of removing his limiter. Something that god himself can't even do. However, the amount of force needed to kill god might just destroy the universe itself. Bringing back the issue of casualty limiters as it was on earth when no one could even stand the radiation being emitted by Garou's attacks. That's probably why they brought Blast into the picture with the powers he does have. To relocate these fights to safe distances or other dimensions in order for Saitama to just end God once and for all with no fear of killing everyone else around him.
