Out of all of that stuff in that house, I think I would have looked through that white box on the shelf at 10:40 that was labeled Loose Photos & books. It might have had clues to the family that lived there. Maybe on a return visit you could look for that box. I would have liked to see what was in there.
This was a cool house, but I'm sure it has a sad story. Most of these homes that are left like this tell a story, somebody passed away nobody wanted their stuff or there was no body to leave it to. Great video Rick😃
I bet if someone combed through all that stuff they'd find some valuable treasures, things you can't buy anymore. I already see lots of things that could be cleaned up, painted and repurposed. Looks like a picker's paradise. What a waste.
In most states, entering into someone's house, even if it appears abandoned, is trespassing or illegal entry. If you remove anything, even a drinking cup, that's considered, at the least, theft of private property. Explorers really should check with a local cop before entering into any abandoned house.
FrankiesFancy really, really these ppl are as grown and intelligent as you are I’m sure, they have been doing this a while and never take things but if they did that’s their business, it’s just stuff, no one is there, has not been in most of these places for YEARS! what’s wrong with that and if a policeman did approach I’m sure they can speak up for themselves .We who are home bound or other reasons enjoy ppl like Rick and Bekah so please don’t be a “downer”
@@FrankiesFancy In Tennessee, where this video is made, it is a class E felony to enter a residential building, even if you assume it is abandoned or empty. You do not have to steal anything to be charged. OP could do 2 years in prison for making this video, no BS.
It was a beautiful lady in her day. It's just so sad that she has been abandoned in her twilight years. I wish she could tell her story. Thank you for documenting her before she's gone and thank you for being so respectful
That's was incredible how many 8 track tapes they had. Looked like a lot weren't opened. Crazy. This would be a great house to do a repeat visit down the road sometime when you have more time to spend there. Great video.
I love your abandon houses videos. I also love the music and photos you add to give it that special feeling of once being lived in. I also love all of the vintage items from the 70's and 80's. I grew up in these decades, and these items are so fun to see again. These families need to go through these houses, and list these items on eBay or take to an antique store. These items could be a true blessing. For people to find. Thank you both for your wonderful videos.
Hi Rick! I hope you and Bekah are well. You're right, this place is incredible with such a beautiful view! I always love the woodwork like the old door frames as well as the overall architecture. Love those old staircases! Nothing built now comes close the character and style of these old homes. That was an old wood burning stove at 3:49! Great find and looked like in decent condition. The refrigerator looked like someone had just walked out except for the absence of foods such as meat. The piano was amazing! Such a shame it's just sitting there and will eventually go to ruin. Imagine that old computer was state of the art at the time! Those eight tracks were in a store display. You could reach in and look at it, but a clerk had to unlock the doors for you to purchase. Great explore, great find! I'm glad you stopped in and got it on video before anything happens to this place.
It’s sad that houses like these & so many others just become abandoned & forgotten. There are many reasons why it happens, but I’m willing to bet a lot of it comes down to money. There is a lot of work involved when it comes to getting rid of all the “stuff” in the house, getting the paperwork in order to sell it & being able to afford the legal fees & repairs that come with it. It’s not easy when you have to deal with probate, and it is very expensive. It’s a lot of work and a lot of people probably just don’t want to deal with the huge hassle it comes with, not including the time it takes to get everything finalized. Just going through the trash & junk & everything else is overwhelming. Families feud over these things., etc.. so therefore the house just literally “sits”. People want to profit from it but don’t want to put up the money it takes to fix the mess & get rid of it. People +years+ accumulation of “things”= house full of stuff that somebody else at some point is going to have to deal with, or in this case, not.
There is also the legalities of finding potential heirs. My husband was left a piece of property in Texas when his mother died. She and his stepfather bought it years ago. We can't legally put it on the market because he had 4 stepsisters and we would have to do research to find out if any of them are still alive (they would probably be in their late 60's or early 70's if so) so they could get their share of what the property would bring. We're just probably going let it go to the state because it is in an upscale community and there are upkeep costs, fees to be paid to the homeowners association, state and local taxes. Way too much money for us.
Nan Rodgers I understand.. I had a similar situation in my family. Such a mess..sorry you are having to be put in that situation. It’s a loss, but it is so expensive & time consuming with the research, and updates, etc.. what do you do? Good luck to you.
@@milktruck9345 there was no will. Unfortunately his stepfather and mother never thought of that. His stepfather died unexpectedly and his mother developed Alzheimer's and dementia.
Eventually families die out , especially where there was no marriage or children. I know families lost heirs to all the wars. One spouse dies and the remaining spouse is all alone And often dies 8n the home alone or is too sick to live alone anymore, too ill to sort thru everything. There are many scenarios. Widows especially do not know who to hire to make repairs, often become very distrustful. The most important Repairs should always go to the roof. Secondly, secure all windows . Trees too close to a house need to be removed and all shrubs, foliage kept away from house. People have tendency to 0lant trees and Bushes too close to their homes, Paying no attention to the root system over time , that will damage the foundation of the house ! Moisture from a compromised foundation , causing water to accumulate in a home, starts to rot floors and walls. Letting junk accumulate On floors is bad as well. It invites black mold. The same with sandwich bags, etc. She bought shampoo from her beautician by the gallon. It was meant to be diluted by half before being used.

Take a portable 8-track player with you. Whenever an 8-track shows up, play it and dance together. It's such rituals, that could form a "trade mark" and give you more audience. Hey, I've seen Polka tapes in this video. ;)
Need to check county property records to see who owns this. Beautiful land surrounding this home. The things in the house should not be thrown away, but should be gone through piece by piece. There are a lot of people that would love to have some of these things, or they could be sold.
I know exactly where that house is, in fact I live about 6 miles from it. I'm a photographer and I think I'll go out there in the next couple of days. Looks like a great photo op! Did you park across the highway in that pull off? There's a dirt road just before you get to the house that goes behind it back to a large barn.
Very interesting, especially the 8-track tape duplication operation. They look like the bootleg 8-tracks once sold in some gas stations and some other venues in the early 70's. It's a shame that you didn't stay there longer and closer check out more of that interesting stuff.
that's what i was going to say looks to be all counterfeit 8-tracks who ever was in the house could of sold them at one time big business back then if you didn't get caught of course
@@phil8trk1 Yeah. that person also had an 8-track shrink machine & other related items as well. They do look like gospel 8-tracks from what I could see.
I was also hoping to see where they led to but, again, left to my imagination. I'm going to take a guess, since that's my only option here, and say that they went to the kitchen. Those two rooms were most likely the servants quarters, so there shouldn't had been that small opening into that room. I hate when an explorer just runs through a place and doesn't look at anything but the trash left behind. Be thorough. But, that's that problem with this channel...I've stopped coming here long ago but I saw this house and was intrigued by it. Some of the worst explorers find the best places and its just maddening.
The 8 tracks was a display from a store, that's how you bought 8tracks back in the 70s, you put your hand thru the hole and picked up a tape, if you wanted it a clerk would unlock the glass door.

Did you park across the highway in that pull off? There's a dirt road just before you get to the house that goes behind it back to a large barn.
Mike McFerrin It's in Fayetteville? Yes?
There’s an old farm house up the road from me same situation older woman left it 8 months ago filled with all kinds of junk
If I ever hit the lottery I would buy and fix places like this. Even if I didn't make a ton or just broke even it would be worth it to save them!
4:12 wonder if that daisy sour cream is still good :) this fridge looks like a botulism experiment :D
10:06 WHERE DID THE STAIRS GO?.??!!! There's a set of stairs going downward in the room with the tiny doorway and I am dying of curiosity
Me too, it was probably a second set of stairs
I was wondering the same thing when I saw that second set of stairs. It would be very interesting to find out.
@Lowkee oh no he is? What did he do? Sorry this is the first video of his I've seen I'm pretty sure
Do we need some cheese to go with your wine. He’s been doing this for 3 years and he misses one set of stairs. Give him a break!!!
Love your videos. Are ya back living in Tenn.?
Nope. Just visiting. :)
P. S that old stove 💯❤❤❤
The 8 tracks was a display from a store, that's how you bought 8tracks back in the 70s, you put your hand thru the hole and picked up a tape, if you wanted it a clerk would unlock the glass door.
