You need a bigger compressor side of the turbo to the get flow. I'd recommend the TD025M turbo from a 1.0L Smart car.

Alright John, you've been giving this a go for a while and it's about time I threw in my .02c on this because with the amount of effort you've put in....it's well deserved.
    1. Go back to draw-thru, blow-through tuning is a nightmare. You need a 1:1 FPR, Pitot tube and a TON of patience to get it to work right.
    2. You NEED plenum volume, it's absolutely paramount on single cylinders, and even more so on a 2 stroke due to the extra importance of exhaust pulse tuning. Imagine pulling off the expansion chamber and putting a CRF50 exhaust on it - it would be a turd! But that's essentially what you're doing with your coldside setup right now on the induction side. It's strangled!
    3. Make a plenum in such a way that the intake port floor is the lowest portion of the intake tract. In other words, make the plenum in a way that fuel can't puddle up at all.
    4. I'm going to recommend making the plenum size between 800 and 1200CC. Any more will be too much of a tuning issue w/draw-thru.
    5. 2-strokes need bigger turbo's due to the importance of having a 1:1 or less Backpressure Ratio. You might need a GT12/GT15 or bigger. I'd try an eBay GT15.
    6. Run a 26mm Mikuni Flat slide, needle richest clip, a BIG main jet, and add a thunderjet (the Vito's one's are hunks of shit, no control whatsoever). Air screw 1T from closed.
    7. Run a Marshall liquid filled boost gauge only, anything else doesn't last.
If you implement all those changes, I really do think you could make some power with this build. Maybe skip the bigger turbo until you try the plenum and carb change. I helped a guy with a pitbike and had him build a plenum instead of a 6" long coldside pipe to the motor. He dyno'd it without the plenum and it made less power than stock. Added the plenum and the HP almost tripled. Good luck brother!

You hit the mark on yes the bowl has more volume but what you failed to consider the main jet is still at the same height it was before without extending the main jet down to the bottom of the bowl it's still going to run out of fuel at the same time because the main jet has to be immersed in the fuel for it to pull it up so without extending the main jet down yeah you increase the volume of the bowl but the main jet is still at the same height so it's still going to run out of fuel at the same time The only difference the bottom of the bowl will still be full of fuel but if the main jet isn't in the fuel then it might as well not even be there

1979 Honda xl250-s use’s a keihin 28mm pumper carburetor and that’s exactly what you need. You could always modify the pumper spring to work with your boost level. I use JDMSPEED carburetor’s because they are available here in the states. Hope this information helps you out on the boosted blaster!!!

It’s a power jet and it’s makes it richer or leaner opened all the way open is rich and closing it leans it out that’s why we used them on drag banshees on methonal and you always want to epoxy the power jet . And later on if you are still starving of fuel you can drill into the intake on the cylinder and add a pump so it don’t rely on gravity fed and will constantly have fuel

I love seeing those Vito kits getting shown, I use those on my big carburetor street ripper moped builds. They’re really nice because you can tune your main jet with the adjustable power jet in its middle setting then just do quick fine tune jetting adjustments with the Vito when you have temp/humidity changes throughout the riding season or day without ever having to pull a fuel bowl. Makes making adjustments super quick and easy

How about some sort of valve (similar to an exhaust cutout valve) in between the turbo and carb. You could open it for startup and low rpm then close it when you’re building boost.

Hey John, that device is what they call a "power jet". It's actually pretty old school technology. Also, does that pump run on AC current? I believe that's what ATV stators put out for the lighting circuit. And 1 last thing, (well, 2, but who's counting) when you get it running right, you may have a problem with the float bowl running dry due to 1. The main jet needs to be lengthened down into your extended bowl, and 2. Check the fuel delivery through the needle/seat. It may need to be drilled out to keep up with the increased fuel consumption. Good luck buddy.

An a/f gauge with the o2 bung in the later portion of the pipe could be helpful. Atleast you would know if its too rich or lean. I always use the aem gauge on my builds.

And fun fact the old 2 stroke Detroit desiel engines used a blower for boost and it need that to push the exhaust out the engine so I think you can make this work if you can keep the crank seals alive and hold boost youl be good pulse the reeds it may start braking reeds

That vitos kit you put on it is called a power jet also one thing you need to consider you should be running a colder plug a colder plug transfers heat out faster so putting a colder plug in a boosted motor will operate like a hotter plug in a stock motor I've burnt a few holes and pistons figuring that one

what if the vittos kit is constantly adding fuel to the motor and that's why its so rich, it supposed to siphon fuel from the vacuum of air being pulled in the motor and if the turbo is adding any pressure at all it would constantly be pulling fuel also because the brass tube hasn't been extended. when you do your next video try and close on the vittos kit a little bit and see how she acts but its a really cool idea and ill be following it all the way through man!

  • @KrustyQuad
    @KrustyQuad Před 2 měsíci

That turbo is wayyyy to small, it doesn't matter what the ebay listing says about the amount of power its capable of. That turbo is a toy.....The last yfz I turboed I used a k03 off of a 1.8t , one would think it's something like that is too big but that's not the case. You then want to use a fuel pump paired to a 1:1 fuel pressure regulator. You need a low psi fpr which can be difficult to find. This is going to be setup with a return line going back to the fuel tank. all vents on the carb need to be capped including the overflow....Final thing you'll need is some sort of plenum in the pressure piping, so there's enough air to feed the engine when you quickly snap the throttle prior to the turbo spooling.

1 its not gonna work 2 its a 2 stroke 3 u dont have room for the compressed air to go or store it before the end of the stroke 4 maybe if u have a rotary valve and a solonoid but also then u gonna run out of tuning capabilities its like inventing the wheel again because u need to have a shitty running engine and give that boost but the boost in a 2 stroke is basicly the powerband so ur acomplishing nothing here so maybe if u take a 4 stroke engine turn that in to a 2 stroke u got a shot then u have valves and a closed system delete airbox make the airbox an intercooler so u can store boost air that made with turbo
