    This is massive How did you managed to mix all those batches of concrete without the first batches of mix hardening while you mixed the rest. Was the mix a wet mix?

    could it be done on top of the existing countertop Formica? my fear in that I have a very large island and a good part is extended without support underneath as in like a bar area... but I worry if I do this without thick support underneath it will break since the seating area is so long and wide

      Possibly, though strongly recommend you screw down 1/4" thick concrete board onto the formica, and then pour the concrete. Depending on the overhang size, you may want to also use rebar reinforcement in the overhung portion. If concerned, you might want to review your plan with a local engineer who can quickly tell you what you need for reinforcement or supports!

    Can you put a layer of the slurry over the entire length of the counter to fill in spots or how does that part work?

    How do you get this pattern on the edge? Do you just chip the concrete?

    No mesh or rebar? How is this holding up?

      5 Years in, still looks perfect. There is mesh though. Our AR Scrim is placed in the concrete in layers. Go to about 1:10 in the video and you'll see the mesh reinforcement being put in :)

    Good morning! Just remodeling my kitchen after a water leak and LOVE this countertop for the island. I am wanting to do the same thing - standard marble or granite for the countertops but poured concrete for the island.
    I have questions about the FORMS though. You put concrete board as a base - what do the forms attach to? Obviously they don't sit directly on the concrete sub board because when removed you would see the edges of the concrete board, so clearly the forms are out further then the edges of the concrete board - but how are they supported and attached to allow the concrete to flow to the edges yet still supported underneath.
    I'm fairly mechanically inclined but can't for the life of me visualize this one....LOL. THANKS!!!!

      We used the Commercial Bar Large Square Edge forms, which we sell on our website. These plastic forms screw down to the cabinet/concrete board base, and they create a cantilever and drop down edge, which lets the concrete cover the concrete board so you will not see it on the finished piece. www.expressions-ltd.com/collections/cast-in-place-countertop-forms

    In the beginning, its that rigid foam on the bottom to take up space where strength isn't needed?

    • @ExpressionsLTD
      @ExpressionsLTD  Před 4 lety

      Correct- We try to keep this white countertop mix around 1" thick, so the foam pieces were to reduce thickness, weight, and cost of material!

    Hi. I love the color and the finish. Big project, no doubt.
    Is that ZForm countertop system with a slate insert.

    • @ExpressionsLTD
      @ExpressionsLTD  Před 4 lety

      Yes, we used the 3" tall Chiseled Slate liner, set in the regular height (2.25") Square Edge counterforms
