Benefits of Strip Tillage

In today's video I explain the benefits of using strip tillage versus conventional tillage on our farm. Strip tillage is part of our two pass program to minimize soil disturbance on our farm. Using this method of tillage we have been able to increase our organic matter and soil health on the farm.

What do you use for P & K, liquid on the planter or dry spread?

I'll do my best to translate and answer. We only put on liquid 32-0-0. We could put a mix or any liquid fertilizer. But we do our mix with the planter and want to put a good base of nitrogen down with the strip tiller. The strip tiller is every 30 inches and we put anywhere from 15 to 30 gpa.

Looks like you're going 90 deg to last yrs strips. That's why it's rough.

That definitely didn't help the situation... but the landlord must of had an issue with his old disc because the bumps were spaced farther than 30 inches. It has been like this before I started farming it. Should of corrected it right when I started, but will work on it this spring.
