      I took it in after having the same issue after 2 brakes bleeds, discovered it was air bubbles in the line due to a micro leak where the line meets the caliper. Only noticed the issue after some deied fluid was found on the brake pads when it was taken in to a electric bike shop.

    Just a friendly pointer guys. Our boy Ginger made a great video here with alot of excellent points. I would just like to point out that the "Cotter pin" that holds your pads in the caliper, should "Always" be replaced when replacing the pads. When bent, these pins integrity is diminished and should "never" be reused unless its a quick fix to get home.. This is a standard practice when replacing castle nuts on automotive applications and should also be followed on any vehicle that carries your ass over 50kmh. Best of luck!

    Boss man Ginger love your vids as always bud just a little more realistic insight when replacing Brake Pads. Once you remove the Brake Pin from the Brake Caliper and remove the Brake Pad and Brake Shims (Metal piece that holds the Brake Pads together). You need to adjust the Brake Caliper-To-Brake Pad Tightness (at least with the NUTT Hydraulic Brake System in Solar Scooters). First you loosen the Brake Caliper-To-Brake Pad Tightness Screws so that way the Padding on the Brake Pad can fit with space to give. Once the Brake Pad & Shims are reinstalled successfully then you can adjust/tighten the Brake Caliper-To-Brake Pad Tightness to ensure that the Brake Pad has enough play between the surface of the Brake Pad and the surface of the
    Brake Disc so that when you squeeze on the Brake Lever the Brake Pad makes full contact with the Brake Disc.

    One of the pistons was already pushing out on the my rear brake. I pushed it in flush with screwdriver pressing against it.
    You need to check each time the pads are off if the piston is flush or not, or you will get spongy brakes. Spongy brakes does not just mean air in the oil as I have noticed.
    Brake scraping is also dirt, foreign objects in the mechanism too.

I just asked about the brakes but forgot to ask something else... after you put new pads on do you ever have to top off or bleed the system or does that have nothing to do with new pads just when the brake lever feels soft? Also do you not have to push the caliper piston in to fit new pads? I'm truly very grateful for all the time you take not only making these videos but also the time you give us answering all our questions thanks again I truly mean it

    • @GingerOnWheels
      @GingerOnWheels  Před 4 lety

      No need to push the caliper pistons in after to pull the pads. At least, I didn't have to. You only need to top off the fluid if the brake lever feels squishy. It's not required when you're just changing the pads out. Thanks again for watching dude ✌️

So if you buy a non branded dual motor scooter on ebay or other sites have fun trying to find replacement brake pads for them because they're not all the same fitment when it comes to brake pads

    Question for you regarding the brake lever. The brake line came out of the brake lever but will not stay in. There appears to be a metal ring inside. Is that what keeps the brake line in place? I've not ridden it any distance however I'm really keen to know what you would do in my situation. Would you keep the 11X or would you sell it and go for any if the Kaboo range. A Dualtron X2 is way over budget so basically could you break down if you would keep the 11X or get a Kaboo instead. And if so why. Thanks Ginge

    • @GingerOnWheels

      Keep the 11x, its a great scooter on the streets and the transaction cost of getting a new scooter is going to be high. No scooter in the kaabo lineup has substantially more range or speed than the 11x, not worth the effort to swap.

The new pads JUST fit, even though they're genuine Kaabo parts. They scrape full circle, even after using your technique - they're just that snug. Is that normal for new pads? Will they soon wear down to no scrape? Or is this there something I could do to widen the gap? Oh, and I'm not sure if the previous owner replaced the rotors, though I doubt it. Hey Ginger, so I just replaced my pads on my Zoom Hydraulics and now the rubbing is so bad that I am losing 5-8 MPH in acceleration and it is causing my battery to drain much faster as the motors are working harder to keep speed. I have tried loosening the screws and squeezing the brake and retightening but the pads are still rubbing and not allowing the wheels to move freely. I don't know what else to try and any help would be awesome. I use my scooter to commute to work and I don't want to risk burning up a motor because a cheap 10 dollar part is giving me issues.

      You probably already figured this out by now but it’s not always as simple as he makes it seem in the video. Sometimes it’s not perfect after just squeezing the handle and tightening the bolts. Sometimes you have to do small adjustments one screw at a time or torque them in a back and forth pattern so that your twisting force on the first bolt changes the angle of your calliper.

      are you sure the rotor is bent so much that the adjustment in this video doesn't work? That's pretty rare. They make specalized tools you can buy for bending rotors for bikes. or you can just tap it with a hammer... be careful though, and you definitely want to do the instruction in this video to keep the rotor from scraping on the pads when you're done aligning the rotor again.

    Hi mate just wanna ask for your opinion on the two scooters the wolf warrior and the zero 11X which do you prefer? and have you had any issues with the wolf warrior apart from the front shock absorber and the broken screw? And have you had any issues with the zero 11X? I’m thinking of getting one of them but not sure which one

    • @GingerOnWheels
      @GingerOnWheels  Před 4 lety +1

      Zero issues with the Wolf asside from 1 broken screw and suspension loosing its springiness after a few thousand miles. I DID replace all the screws on the wolf with stainless hardware though so who knows what would've happened if I hadn't. The Zero 11x suspension coils can get compressed permanently if you hit large bumps too fast or land with too much weight on it, very unlikely though. Also with the Zero 11x, the model I had has 2 fuses between the battery and controllers and if you go full throttle for too long those fuse boxes can actually melt. I believe that Revrides and eWheels have fixed this by splicing out the fuses entirely, but if you plan on going full throttle for miles at a time then you may want to ask.

    I have a diffrenet kind of issue here. I've fixed a flat on my back wheel and when i've put back the wheel in place, this rubbing noise against the pads still occurs even after i've done aligning it. The calilper just won't find a spot in which the rotor won't rub against at least one of the pads. (The rotor is straight, the pads are worn in a straight manner and not much in 500km, and everything is clean). I've even tried with different washers on the caliper mount.

    • @GingerOnWheels
      @GingerOnWheels  Před 3 lety +2
