Ma'am..in magnesium, in the outermost shell there are 3 electron so there should be charge of -3...why there is +2 ??????? Pleasee tell me....!!😕😩
In magnesium, The atomic no. is 12. The electronic configuration will be K having 2, L having 8, M having 2. So outermost electron will have 2 electron in outermost shell and It will loose 2 electron. So It has +2.

Ma'am if three atoms are there then it may have only 1 atom on the L shell so ma'am it can just simply loose it's one but you said that it will loose three atoms at the time of explaining the easy method of finding valency
Ma'am please solve my doubt
I was talking about...If it has 3 electrons in the "outermost shell" then either it can LOOSE 3 electrons or GAIN 5 electrons. It cannot gain 5 electrons due to energy considerations. so It will loose 3 electrons from the outermost shell.
If you have an atom having 3 electrons in total, 2 electrons will be filled in K shell and one electron will be filled in L shell. So in that case it will loose one electron.

Hydrogen loose 1 electron so it acquires positive charge and become a cation
Helium does not loose or gain any electron so what he becomes.

Helium is a noble gas...It means uske outermost shell yani K shell mein already duplet complete hai toh use zruurt nhi hai aur electrons loose ya gain krne ki..So na wo gain krega na hi loose.
