Please forgive the quality of production and presentation, I did my best to make everything understandable and digestible, but I have no prior experience whatsoever putting together even a simple project like this.
I also realized on review that I totally ignored some other questions I got from the community, so my apologies to those people. My hope is that this gets enough positive feedback to warrant a followup guide related more specifically to gameplay, because I felt answering technical questions fell a little out of scope for what ultimately became a settings guide rather than the complete deep dive I initially wanted.

This is my guide to Chivalry 2 controller players, using knowledge of the game itself as well as how various controller settings work generally to bring you the information you need to make informed decisions about how you manage your inputs and your control over the game so you can get the absolute most out of your controller. Do note that although I am a PC player with a controller rather than a console player, the controller implementation is identical across every platform, with all of its attendant pain points and issues. I also began my Chivalry career, and developed my rebinding method specifically, as an an Xbox player. I do not claim this as a perfect solution, but it's the compromise we have to work with. When i was leveling up my katars i changed my controller binds too.
All i changed was my overhead attack with my special and used my special as a main attack.
Changing your controller binds for ANY game is something you should get used to, you will gradually see the difference in your gameplay.
It just takes some gettin used to thats all.

If you are on Xbox
I highly recommend using a Elite V2 controller.
Binding the back paddles to kick, jab/crouch, stab & overhead.
Can not recommend this way to play enough
Thx for the vid. A part 2 would be really usefull. I am sad Tornbanner really dont care about controllers. I also play Mordhau on console and it is really better with a controller. In chivalry, performing a same-attack feint is easier to perform with a m&k which is a shame. I would be really interested in your opinion and tips for combat with a controller

Subbed n liked also longterm xbox player but still find controller awkward like jabs are awkward and throwijg items
How is that possible that I cant simply rebind the buttons in the game? :( For a game like this it should be very possible..

Life has been busy but I've started pre-scripting an overall gameplay guide for controller players. I also need to play more so I can get footage and figure out how to visually show some of the things I'd like to talk about, but it is happening. Just not as fast as any of us might like :P
Hey, how often do you find yourself using alternate attacks on a controller? I'm lvl850 and I'm on Xbox and I'm pretty decent. I spend a lot of time in the social servers dueling other veteran players but I never use alternate attacks. The left stick button is just awful and I don't think you can map it to the left paddle. Do you implement these attacks regularly when you play?
Personally I left the alt button where it is because I don't mind it, but you can rebind left stick wherever you like and then bind that input to a paddle. Most controllers with paddles should also be natively capable of binding left stick to one of them, but that depends on the specific controller. You can see in the gameplay I've used that I use a lot of alt slash counters in particular, but I also do a lot of neutral alt stabs and other things. It's really useful for being able to manage your footwork and especially your targets in 1vX.
you didn't mention anything on using 3rd vs 1st person perspective

I’m on console and I love this game but it really is unfair, I can’t double feint, throwing doesn’t work 50 percent of the time, I don’t trust the jab, and not to mention the raw performance bonus players get on pc. I relatively new to chiv and finding out that I can’t do things that pc players can do is making me really want to stop playing because I’ll never have an opportunity to be ACTUALLY good at the game. Ps you were in one of my TO lobbies last week and were an absolute menace killed me a few times, I think I managed to trick you up on a feint and kill you but I knew it was luck😂😂😂
I'm glad this one proved informative for you! My next video will be done hopefully in the next few days and double feints (or alt feints, as I call them) occupy a decently sized chunk of it, as will the jab/crouch input.

I started on PS5 and you can do everything you listed on controller. On PS5 hold/press L3 with your attack button to do an alt. To fient from an Alt hold/press block with your 2nd attack.
It's hard to find info for this game but don't give up!
You can remap the controller buttons, issue is they stay that way for all games as it's on the console itself.
I use a BFG pro and have L3 mapped to a button on the back, as well as R3 and Block.
Any tips for people on console that can't rebind anything?
The method for rebinding in the video works perfectly fine on console. On Xbox its done through the Xbox accessories app, on PS its in accessibility settings under the controller tab.
