    It's funny, I was going to message to ask if there was a video on how to strip double shielded cable. Finally CZcams served it up as one of the next videos! It's has been super helpful. Thank you!

    Have another quick question Vince. When wiring a 110v 1.5kw vfd and spindle, I will only be using 3 of the 4 wires correct? Hot,neutral and ground. Thanks again for all your help.

    • @corvetteguy50
      @corvetteguy50  Před 4 lety

      Typically the 4th lead is used for the ground on the spindle's plug if your going that route. If not then you must ground the chassis to ground the spindle itself if it doesn't reflect continuity. The 4 pin required for the cable is for the shield ground drain, so even if you did use a 3 lead cable you would require a 4 pin plug to support it. Thank you,
      Vince

    Hey Vince, I see here you are using 22awg wire to solder to GX16 connector. When using 18awg wire, the wire seems to be too large to fit in the cups. Even before solder. Would you just use 22awg wire instead inside the chassis from connector to stepper drive?

    • @corvetteguy50
      @corvetteguy50  Před 4 lety

      No, 18awg leads are fine to use on a GX-16 connector, and will fit the cups fine. It should be used for all stepper drives that are using them as 22awg won't support the voltage's/amps of most drives. Here's my new assembled GX-16 cables here czcams.com/video/6YU-YZQT02c/video.html Thank you,

    Thank you Vince for this video, your technics of work is like brain surgery. So please enlighten me, the double shielded cable is the one with plastic foil wrap around wires + thin copper braid, right ? If is that so, it means i am already having this type of cable on my machine but being out of knowledge i thought it is normal shielded. I thought the double shielded means kind of double copper braid. Another thing regarding grounding the shield i wanted to ask, is there anything wrong if i use to return the braid backwards and clamp it with those two screws of plug shell where you put the grommet in order to ground it to the metal control box through the plug shell ? Or it's better get plugs with + 1 pin to do it like you ?
    Thank you,
    John.

      John, Thank you for your support. Please use the method outlined in the video for grounding utilizing a connector with an additional pin as its best practice. The cable in the video is double shielded, and utilizes a tinned braided copper shield, and Mylar foil shield.
      Thank you,
      Vince
