I found one of these on Amazon for $15, so I bought it. Note, I am almost completely blind. So you could imagine how hard this was for me to make the coffee. Thank God my wife was able to help. Intense

Great vid, thanks
Bruh they're *not* true espresso machines.
I've had no idea how to use this,I've always drunk instant coffee because it was quicker. Now I've mastered a new skill in life.Gotta write this in my resume.
Please put a space after the period, It kinda annoys me..
I just bought one for $3, a small Moka pot, my late Italian husband always made his expresso this way.....still had the demi cups/saucers he use to use.....was a great find!!
*We just retired a 10 year old Keurig, similar to the new one **MyBest.Kitchen** the old one had a LCD display, but this new one seems like it is a little better as far as features. Turn it on, load it up, press the button and wait for the cup to fill. Much quieter than the old one. The amount*
Keurigs Arnot coffee Keurigs is hot-water pushed over a K-Cup which pretty much is instant coffee

I'm watching this video during quarantine and it nearly brought tears to my eyes, it was so informative. Decided to use this exact expresso maker today that I received as a gift years ago and put away in a cabinet because I didn't have any instructions. Trying to get away from the plastic coffee maker, I have been using. As an engineer, I knew not to attempt this without proper visuals but went through several other guides that left me with more questions than answers. No questions after this one :) Hope you are well and thank you 🙏🏾
So glad to hear it’s helped you out!
Yes, a lot of instructional videos overcomplicate the process. This one shows the fundamentals quite clearly. I would add, however, the importance of not using too high a heat source and possibly towards the end of the cycle, when it first starts hissing and sputtering, to remove it from the heat source. Moka pot first produces a very strong, almost syrupy brew and then gets watery towards the end of the cycle. Some people even suggest stirring it in the pot to mix it before serving. Removing it from the heat also avoids "burning" the coffee grounds and produces a cuppa that isn't bitter. Trust me, you will enjoy using the moka pot. If the resulting brew is too strong for your taste (some say that it mimics espresso) then dilute it with hot water to make an Americano (so named because American servicemen in Italy during WWII liked it that way, rather than as an espresso.)
What a puss
I just purchased one of these from a garage sale. Great video, covering all of the facets of using one of these little machines. By far the best explanation on the web. Many thanks.
I was recently given one of these. I had no clue what to do with it until I watched your video. Thank you very much.
This was the best, most instructive and helpful moka pot video on CZcams. It's shocking how bad most of the others are. Thank you.
You should consider making more coffee videos.
Thanks! My coworkers have been requesting I try one of these for years and I finally picked it up. But the instructions that came with it are lacking or extremely basic. So it was nice to get a good overview on how to use, what to expect, medium heat, etc. Good job!
Thank you for the tutorial. I bought one in 2010 after a trip to Italy with my son, but only used it a couple of times. My son was stationed there for a couple of years, and it was a great experience to visit Italy. We enjoyed the food, wine, espresso! I dug the stovetop espresso maker out of the back of my cabinets, watched your video, and made a delicious mocha using organic cacao, cane sugar, and frothed milk.
Thank you! I just got one of these at a used store and had no idea how to properly use it. It's been a year since I've made my own espresso and I'm very excited to use my new espresso maker!
I loved this video. This is the most complete piece of information i have seen on the subject. You covered everything i wanted to know. Such a simple but great way to enjoy strong fresh coffee! In my opinion using fresh ground coffee is optimal.
Yup, spend a bit more on quality beans and grind it fresh at time of making it. Also, distilled water (very cheap huge jugs) is really what will push it over the top. 👍😁
but my dear mr.grim . . . he dint mention how to properly empty the used coffee grounds from the filter basket? it is a coffee drinkers ritual passed down thru the ages from father to son and mother to daughter... a sort of coming of age for the next generation of coffee drinkers if u will? and now i pass the secret on to you! begin by holding the funnel shaped filter basket between the thumb and forefinger, but do this only after it has cooled or you will rue the day you ever discovered this delightful little trick! then, with a grand gesture, bring the filter basket up to your lips and blow thru the tube. the result is as miraculous as it is rewarding. the torch has been passed... good luck and happy coffee break!
Very helpful, thank you!

I just got one myself. It makes an cup of coffee. And it does so because it doesn't have to drip through hot recycled plastic vats to get into your pitcher, picking up all kinds of gross chemical flavors. Best, purest and most delicious coffee i've had.
I got mine as a housewarming gift and it didn’t have instructions. This was very helpful! Thank you!
i had a glass cafetiere and eventually smashed it. bought one of these instead but had no idea how to use it. the instructions that came with it are non existent. this was perfect for me and helped me out. thank you.
Hey Jim, Glad the video was helpful!
Are you enjoying the coffee you are getting from your stovetop?
yeah great thanks. just had to practice a few times to get the timing and temp right. enjoying a cup as i write this. cheers.
I did not make coffee or drink much of it until I saw such an espresso maker by La Cafetiere. It works like a charm, so consistently reliable, every time, quick, easy and no paper filter required. I have the 9 shot size. It makes wonderful espresso. I do add sugar and a bit of almond milk with a dash of cinnamon. ALWAYS EXCELLENT!!!
I truly appreciate this instructional video. I've always been intrigued by the stove top brewers, but was too intimidated to try it. This video makes it look so simple that I'm going to purchase one for our home.
Thank you. I just bought my stovetop espresso, and I'm loving it! This was so helpful.
Got one of these yesterday but it came with minimal instriuctions so thanks for this video. I've usesd it a couple of times and the result is far more satisfying than I've had from a cafetiere.
Such good explanation! A little long, but very in depth and informative. I used to always over-brew my coffee in this machine, but now I get it just right! Thank u!
Your welcome Stephanie! Glad it's working better for you now
Thank you very much for going through all of the component pieces of the Moka. I lost the silicone ring in the dish water after the first try, and I could not figure out why it was not working well on the second try. My third try went perfectly after watching your video. Saving a ton on my coffee bill as I wave to Starbucks while passing it.
Brand new to coffee making beyond instant coffee and i just bought one of these today. Thank you for such a detailed and informative video!
Hello there, I used to watch my mom when I was a little girl make coffee out of one of these. I am now 52 and was wondering how to use them, it's been so many years I remembered it the way you illustrate, but didn't know about the medium heat setting and for how long, my mom never opened the lid so this is the first time I watch the coffee travel up to the top portion. Thank you so much for the video, this video is very well made. Now I can master making coffee out of it. I am going to buy one. (*_*)
+Diane Sharpe oh wow! What a great trip down memory lane :)
very cute comment; made me smile
What a great vid! The only think I would add, is to warm up the coffee cups with hot water b/4 hand. And to the gentleman that said Moka pot is different; here is the definition of Moka pot: The moka pot, also known as a macchinetta (literally "small machine"), is a stove-top or electric coffee maker that produces coffee by passing boiling water pressurized by steam through ground coffee. It was patented for the first time in Italy by the inventor Luigi De Ponti for Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. It even has a picture that looks exactly like a stove top espresso. Ciao
Have been using the percolator for some time, still find your explanation and tips very helpful. Thank you. Enjoy your coffee : )
Glad I found this video. I grew up in Miami Florida and always saw the folks in the Latin community use these pots but I never tried using one. Now I live in North Carolina and just bought one at thrift store for four dollars and I love it. I also have a french press and cant decide which brew tastes better but the Moka Pot brew does seem to have a smoother taste.
I don't remove the rubber washer each time I make my espresso - in fact rarely do I take it off......maybe once in a while to give the pot a thorough wash. I collect these pots of various shaped and sizes. Every so often, Goodwill or Salvation Army one will turn up, usually a dollar, not much more....they're cool. I have mine "on display" in my kitchen. The various types of espresso that's on the market today is fun to experiment with. In Italy, it's all we use.
They are fun to collect and they add some variety to my options of making coffee!
Thanks so much for this! I have looked at these with complete bewilderment up until now!! Now I understand I am likely to purchase! Gorgeous cup of coffee ☕
Thank you for such a clear step by step guide - the best I've watched. At home I have an all singing & dancing Espresso Coffee Machine, but I wanted to buy/use one of these small stovetop espresso makers when away in my caravan as it's so much nicer than instant - & takes up so little room. Just bought one in a local store that was reduced from £9.99 to £2.99 which means I'll probably pay more for the filtered coffee to use in it :) Result!
Great instructional with explanations on the why's and the how's.I always saw these and wondered about them, but never pulled the trigger on purchasing.I'll have to try it now.
Thank you: I just got one like this on eBay and didn’t know what to do till I saw your teaching. Great job...
Appreciate it!! Enjoy your purchase
Of all the videos on this subject, this was the most helpful on home espresso making with the pictured espresso maker. It gave me a time element, and it also showed me that my heat was a bit too high when I made mine. Thank you.
Hey Tamara, thanks for the awesome feedback! Glad it was able to help you out.
Tip: start off by putting boiling water into the coffee maker, it will save you time and get a fresher flavour as the coffee will not be sitting on top of the water vapour as the water heats up to the boiling point
Thank you
thank you so much for the detailed explanation. i have friends coming over on friday for a coffee and cake date and i needed to know how to use this type of coffee maker. im all sorted now. great video
Awww thank you so much for this video :) I was given one of these a while ago and only now decided to learn how to use it and of course try it. Thanks again. Great Video :)
My mom had one of these sitting in the cabinet for years and I always wondered how to use it. I’m definitely going to be using this before school in the morning
Thank you for the demonstration. I just purchased one as well and prefer a visual explanation rather than drawn pictures. I have recently started drinking espresso based drinks and wanted to make them at home instead of going broke at the local coffee house.
Classic way to make a good Italian espresso. This is what got me hooked on coffee!
Me too! Love expresso coffee!
I’m impressed, I must say. Actually not often do I encounter a youtube video that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me let you know, you have got hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the problem is one thing that not enough persons are speaking intelligently about. Im very comfortable that I stumbled across this in my seek for one thing referring to this.
Great video, just purchased one of these on a trip to Rome, Italy, had no idea how it worked. 👌
Thank you at first i didn't like it was a 10 minute video to make coffe but it was worth it cause you explained everything good. ♥️
Finally!! Great video thanks. I've had one of these gathering dust for a few months and I love coffee so I can't wait to get soem brewing
Just bought the exact same one at a yard sale for $2.00. Brand new. Excellent video.
Bargain!!!! Thanks 😊
So excited to use mine! Thank you for making this video and teaching me how to use it!
After 2years I can finally use mine. Was given as a gift, thanx
I found one of these in a thrift shop with no instructions, and was not to happy not knowing if I had all the parts because I had to leave the handle at the edge of my burner. But your video not only showed how close I was but to add hot water to the "concentrate" to even out the coffee, or whatever beans I have is something I never thought to do. Im going to dig it out of a box and follow your instructions and get my 2 dollars worth out of this funky little coffee maker. Thanks.
Tru Rudboi What a find! Definitely worth keeping handy in the kitchen thats for sure.
I found some clearance beans of dunkin d's, starbucks, ect, at the store and enjoy making a cup of coffee with this thing, it does take some practice, this video helps alot.
Greetings and happy holidays. How do I clean the insides of this coffee maker? Do I scrub it out with dishsoap, or is there a special way to do it? Thanks
Hey Tru, I would simply rinse under warm water and use a dishcloth to remove any residues. Probably avoid using soapy water too often as it removes the oil's that 'season' the pot.
well :)) it,s a machine coffe from italy .. most of ppl italian use this home to make coffe.. at first ..if u use a new one .. mean machine coffe.. i have to put only water in the machine.. not coffe ..make 3 or 4 time the same.. and at last u can make a good coffe
Thanks for the video, couldn't figure out how to use the coffee maker, you explained it very well. Good job!
Recently become addicted to espresso in italy, thank you so much for this video :) right off to buy a pot!
thanks so much for this, love the level of detail and care you have taken/ much appreciated mate :)
Thx for Ur instructions I just bought one today and I didn't had no idea how to use it and by 👀 watching Ur video I learn how Thx so much .
Hello from 2021. Still a great guide! While I eagerly await my expresso maker to be delivered, I learned how to use it! Thanks!
You're welcome! Hope you're enjoying the new purchase!
Thanks so much, such a good educational video. I just bought a percolator and this perfectly explained what I'm getting into. Love the process.
Looks like 2 delicious cups. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for being so thorough. I've watched a few tutorials and this one helped me understand how to use this thing.
Agorija Frost Awesome, glad to hear it gave you the information you were looking for :)
Thank you for this video! It is simply perfectly made and with clear and concise
Awesome I was thinking in getting one, you convinced me, great job explaining.
Thanks a bunch!
My parents had this thing for years, I recently picked up a coffee hobby so this video was very helpful!!
Excellent video Thank you so much for explaining this. my mom gave me one of these I've had it for many years and have no clue on how to use it and now I do on account of you. Thank you so much for your tutorial I really enjoyed it....
You’re welcome, so glad it was useful for you! Hope you’re enjoying the coffee!
Having been a dedicated coffee drinker for many years I just did not know how these things worked but thanks to your great vid, I’m off to buy one in the morning!
Oh that’s awesome! It’s a great piece of equipment for any coffee fan to have in their kitchen! Enjoy :D
Charmingly presented
I ust pulled my old Zanzibar stovetop expresso maker out. Bought it in the 70's and have no idea where the instructions are so this was a great tutorial! Thank you! Now I just have to find out the capacity and I'm going to give it a go, thanks to you!
Oh what a find! Glad we could help you get this vintage coffee maker going again :D
Thanks for your in depth description. I wanted to know how long to leave it cooking and you answered to take it off about half way full at top. I have gas and wait until all coffee has filled top and then turn off. Boiled coffee is spoiled coffee they say in Finland. I’ll try your way tomorrow!
I just purchased one too, Great video Simple step by step right to the end
Thank for your simple guide. :)
This was a great tutorial on how to use one of these inexpensive espresso machines. You did a great job!
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful!!
The bit about actually watching the coffee perk into the top section makes so much sense after I had it all bubbling up all over the stove. Will be watching next time.
Thank you, I just bought the exact same one as you, great guide!!
Great instuctional just found one of these in one of my storage boxes never knew how to use it ..lol So thanks for the video very good directions
Excellent advice I was brewing espresso all these years the wrong way. Excellent instructions. To the point and not alot yacking joking about it. Right to the point.. Spoke good clear English too. Thank you.
So clear and informative. Thank you!
thanks to you I have finally made my first espresso using the Moka Pot.
Thank you for this video. You’re easy to understand and informative. I’m going to make some right now!
Thank you just made my first cup and its delicious. Great video.
Thank you so very much!! You covered EVERYTHING that the manufacturer (most all?) fails to detail in packaging
Great instructions on how to use the percolator!
Although for me it was just a reference to see if I use it best to get the most out of it.
Also your tips on the coarseness of the coffee.
Worth trying to get as fine as possible to get the most taste.
I always throw away the first little bit of coffee because that tends to be a bit waterlike and has old coffee taste.
Best coffee in the world.
Got a nice Solis machine too but, the percolator coffee has the better taste.
Just as strong, but seems to be sweeter/fuller taste.
Best, most informative video video I've found on the subject! Thank you kindly!
Glad you found it helpful!
Thanks man. I'm on holidays in Spain right now and this is the only thing for coffee in the appartment.
Nice, clear and all the information was there. Appreciate your effort with camera on one hand and doing everything with other hand
Thank you
Thanks for your feedback! So glad the video was useful for you :D
Simple and elegant, makes great espresso too in like 5 mins!
Nicely done! Everything I need to know to brew using this type of coffee maker.
Very informative! Recently ditched my electronic coffee machine because of nasty buildup interfering with the taste. Looking forward to my first cup! Thank you very much
Thanks for the feedback! These are nice and easy to keep free of build up, enjoy your new, better tasting coffees!!
Thank you! I'm couch surfing in Germany and my host said I can make espresso in the morning, but I hadn't the slightest idea how to use this. I do now!
Shan Cald Woohoo! There will be coffee :)
I just purchased one of these coffee makers at the local Goodwill store for $1. Not kidding. I actually bought it to display as kitchen art. I do remember my Italian in-laws having one of these but never paid much attention on how to use them. Since I was not sure how to correctly brew coffee I had to check on CZcams and sure enough found this detailed video. Thank you
I thought the video was going to be too long, however it was very clear and complete. I think I know everything I need to know to brew my first cup... Thanks, Great video
Thanks Greg, so glad to hear you found it useful!
Thanks for posting this, I just purchased one.
+maria K You're welcome! Congrats on the purchase
what is the price pls.??
I got mine for 13$
really helpful, thanks. love the basic video and helpful tips, now i can out coffee my brother (hes usually the professional when at home), thanks again!!
Easy going! Thanks for the video, it's very helpful 😁
This video was right on! Thank you so much!
And thank you for sharing the different ways we could drink it :)
Dalia Ramirez Thanks! Glad you found it useful :)
Good video, thank you so much. Getting ready to enjoy a cup right now.
Very helpful. I bought a stainless version about 20 yrs ago in Italy and have just used it for decoration. One day it dawned on me that coffee brewed in mostly plastic drip makers can't be healthy so I started using my little pot. I love it but now know I was doing it wrong - too high heat and too much water. Thanks for an excellent video.
Gloria Sheridan Oh wow, hope you're enjoying the coffee you are getting out of it. Slightly different style of coffee to a drip, but I certainly prefer it :)
You know there's not a whole lot on CZcams or the internet for that matter that impresses me but I really like this video I've had one of these pots for at least 20 years and I have never used it because I did not know how now I can use it thank you
I was given one of these things. It came with instructions so this was the salvation I needed. Ta!
Thanks for the great video, I just got one of these and look forward to trying it tomorrow.
PERFECT EXPLANATION! Thank you! I have a gas burner, so I set it on an iron skillet 🎉
I've always wanted to get an espresso pot but never knew how to work it. I usually leave that to the baristas at my coffee shop. But now I will purchase a pot and make my own cup. Thank you so much for the instructions and the explanations on why things are done a certain way.
Thats awesome, so glad to hear you are willing to give it a go yourself & that the instructions were helpful.
I hope you enjoy your espresso pot and get lots of great coffee out of it!
Nice video- now I know that I have been using mine at too high of a heat. Thanks!
Awesome, thanks! Just bought one of these, so I'm super excited to bring café con leche home from Spain :D
Thank you so much , I have this 2 years I didn’t know how to use it till now
thaks ! just needed a coffee for my studies !
Thank you, best tutorial of them all, you take your time, have a nice day
Thank you, a great illustration vd.
