Turn it on, load it up, press the button and wait for the cup to fill. Much quieter than the old one. The amount*

I'm watching this video during quarantine and it nearly brought tears to my eyes, it was so informative. Decided to use this exact expresso maker today that I received as a gift years ago and put away in a cabinet because I didn't have any instructions. Trying to get away from the plastic coffee maker, I have been using. As an engineer, I knew not to attempt this without proper visuals but went through several other guides that left me with more questions than answers. No questions after this one :) Hope you are well and thank you 🙏🏾

Yes, a lot of instructional videos overcomplicate the process. This one shows the fundamentals quite clearly. I would add, however, the importance of not using too high a heat source and possibly towards the end of the cycle, when it first starts hissing and sputtering, to remove it from the heat source. Moka pot first produces a very strong, almost syrupy brew and then gets watery towards the end of the cycle. Some people even suggest stirring it in the pot to mix it before serving. Removing it from the heat also avoids "burning" the coffee grounds and produces a cuppa that isn't bitter. Trust me, you will enjoy using the moka pot. If the resulting brew is too strong for your taste (some say that it mimics espresso) then dilute it with hot water to make an Americano (so named because American servicemen in Italy during WWII liked it that way, rather than as an espresso.)

My son was stationed there for a couple of years, and it was a great experience to visit Italy. We enjoyed the food, wine, espresso! but my dear mr.grim . . . he dint mention how to properly empty the used coffee grounds from the filter basket? it is a coffee drinkers ritual passed down thru the ages from father to son and mother to daughter... a sort of coming of age for the next generation of coffee drinkers if u will? and now i pass the secret on to you! begin by holding the funnel shaped filter basket between the thumb and forefinger, but do this only after it has cooled or you will rue the day you ever discovered this delightful little trick! then, with a grand gesture, bring the filter basket up to your lips and blow thru the tube. the result is as miraculous as it is rewarding. the torch has been passed... good luck and happy coffee break!

It works like a charm, so consistently reliable, every time, quick, easy and no paper filter required. I have the 9 shot size. It makes wonderful espresso. I do add sugar and a bit of almond milk with a dash of cinnamon. ALWAYS EXCELLENT!!!

What a great vid! The only think I would add, is to warm up the coffee cups with hot water b/4 hand. And to the gentleman that said Moka pot is different; here is the definition of Moka pot: The moka pot, also known as a macchinetta (literally "small machine"), is a stove-top or electric coffee maker that produces coffee by passing boiling water pressurized by steam through ground coffee. It was patented for the first time in Italy by the inventor Luigi De Ponti for Alfonso Bialetti in 1933. It even has a picture that looks exactly like a stove top espresso. Ciao

I don't remove the rubber washer each time I make my espresso - in fact rarely do I take it off......maybe once in a while to give the pot a thorough wash. I collect these pots of various shaped and sizes. Every so often, Goodwill or Salvation Army one will turn up, usually a dollar, not much more....they're cool. I have mine "on display" in my kitchen. The various types of espresso that's on the market today is fun to experiment with. In Italy, it's all we use.

At home I have an all singing & dancing Espresso Coffee Machine, but I wanted to buy/use one of these small stovetop espresso makers when away in my caravan as it's so much nicer than instant - & takes up so little room. Great instructions on how to use the percolator!
Although for me it was just a reference to see if I use it best to get the most out of it.
Also your tips on the coarseness of the coffee.
Worth trying to get as fine as possible to get the most taste.
I always throw away the first little bit of coffee because that tends to be a bit waterlike and has old coffee taste.
    Best coffee in the world.
Got a nice Solis machine too but, the percolator coffee has the better taste.
Just as strong, but seems to be sweeter/fuller taste.

I just purchased one of these coffee makers at the local Goodwill store for $1. Not kidding. I actually bought it to display as kitchen art. I do remember my Italian in-laws having one of these but never paid much attention on how to use them. Since I was not sure how to correctly brew coffee I had to check on CZcams and sure enough found this detailed video. Thank you

Very helpful. I bought a stainless version about 20 yrs ago in Italy and have just used it for decoration. One day it dawned on me that coffee brewed in mostly plastic drip makers can't be healthy so I started using my little pot. I love it but now know I was doing it wrong - too high heat and too much water. Thanks for an excellent video.

Gloria Sheridan Oh wow, hope you're enjoying the coffee you are getting out of it. Slightly different style of coffee to a drip, but I certainly prefer it :)

I've always wanted to get an espresso pot but never knew how to work it. I usually leave that to the baristas at my coffee shop. But now I will purchase a pot and make my own cup. Thank you so much for the instructions and the explanations on why things are done a certain way.
