  • I started Day 4 with a morning photo walk. John Hook, from the Nella Media Group, took us around the college campus, teaching us how to look for the interesting, small details you might miss while photographing. After that, I headed to a Video Production class taught by Fujifilm. I learned a lot about bit-depth, video quality, compression, waveform histograms, and color grading.
Next, I went to Gabe Biderman's workshop using Lensbaby products to spark creativity. Unfortunately, I couldn't use them because he didn't have a Z-Mount adapter, but I still had fun with all the filters you can hold up to your lens. After that, I met up with Adam Jung, a portrait photographer on the island of Oahu, and we headed into the cactus garden with our model, Anastasia, we had a great time using natural light plus a reflector.
Lastly, I attended another workshop, this time with Ian Spanier, who demonstrated using a 24" Wescott Umbrella + a Wescott Strobe to capture nighttime-looking portraits in the middle of the day. It was great being able to get instant feedback from Ian and the other photographers in the class.
