Outstanding coaching. The exaggerated finish lean back is not only unproductive, it is way worse! First of all it costs oodles of time, the time expenditure for the lean back probably scales quadratically with the lean back angle. Second of all the time spent either lowers your tempo or increases your recovery sliding speed, which increases average drag of the hull through the water. Next to that higher acceleration and deceleration on the slides burns energy and oxygen in your muscles. The goal is a “compact” finish, low lean back angle. GREAT coaching!
