First part in a series of videos touring Ascension Catholic Church in Bowie, MD. Music obtained from the CZcams Creator Studio, by Wayne Jones, entitled, 'Retro'. (It is free to be used in any video on CZcams)
I've actually heard bells up-close. They weren't really THAT loud. Since I'm a bell enthusiast, I was near a church so I decided to get closer to the bell tower. I waited for it to turn 4PM. So when it turned 4PM the two bells started ringing. The time they began ringing my soul left my body. It wasn't that loud, but I enjoyed the rest of the ring. I even saw the two bells moving a little. (By the way sorry if I have bAd EnGliSh or if I'm talking unprofessionally.)
Thanks for the tour Fr Larry! That was so interesting. This kind of stuff just fascinates me. Can't wait till the next tour! P.S. Btw, I agree a zipline from the choir loft would be fun! Ha ha!
Larry your one fun Reverend, Do you know where the bells were cast?? Also the big bell is what is known as hung dead, it doesn't have a clapper it has a hammer. The Ringing bells is the ones that swing have clappers. Just a bit of info for you Love your video, really interesting and fun.
Thanks Steven. You know I didn't notice that hammer while I was filming it, but in the video you can clearly see it to the left of the big bell in the middle, which I know now is hung dead. I love learning little tidbits like that. I think I mentioned where at least some of the bells were made in the video, or when I transcribed the wording on them. I want to say Holland or Belgium? Can't remember. I'd have to watch it again. Anyways, thanks for watching. I actually got transferred from that parish last summer, but only 20 minutes away from it. Merry Christmas, Fr. Larry
@@fr.larryyoung4222 well I'm in Australia but a London boy. I ring church bells as in change ringing Got to ring at Washington national cathedral last year. There are around 50 change ringing towers in the US including Trinity church Wall Street
