- This is the assembly of the knife made by CZcamsr "AvE." The "knife" is sold as a "blade holder" and comes in parts that need to be cleaned up and assembled. It is made of stainless steel and titanium parts and is designed to hold a 25mm or 1" snap-off blade.
AvE has a few videos about this knife and the assembly of it. My video shows the clean up of the parts, the assembly, and my thoughts on the knife.
I took a bit more time to clean up the parts than AvE does in his assembly video though the total time was not more than a half hour. I could have taken more time to get a mirror finish, or to make the edges perfect, but I was running short on time, and after all, it's a utility knife; I plan to use it not look at it.
The knife has a nice weight to it and feels very solid. The action on it is rough at first but gets better if you take the time to sand the internals and I assume it will get smoother over time.
A couple things that I noticed that could be improved are that the screws protrude out the back, the edges are not very clean or line up well, and I'd like it if it had a belt clip.
Overall this knife is very nice looking and feels nice in the hand. The push-button action is smooth if you take the time to get it there. It's pretty close to "one-of-a-kind" at the moment but I know my coworkers will be asking me where to get it. The price is steep for a utility knife but taking into account the materials and the quantity being made I think it's worth it.

Who else was shouting "FOCUS YOU F***!" 😀
The finest that can be made in Canukistan.
Applying a little molly powder with an acid brush helps too. I didn't mind the cost because i like AvEs channel and it was a good way help support him.
He is such a good story teller
a little molly, powder with an acid, brushed teeth and good for the journey
A little dab'l do ya.
The bigger the gob the better the job
Great Video, thank you. Great description of how someone who uses these knives often evaluates them. I'm just using it to cut up boxes, and I realize I'm way overpaying, but I don't mind supporting a YT channel that I've enjoyed watching for a long time makes it worthwhile (I have no use for stickers, mugs, etc.)
Just got the email an hour ago to say my knife has shipped, WOOHOO! Thanks for the assembly tips....and only for a second.
Nice job.
Thank you for the review.
I bought one too and agree with most of your observations
I enjoyed the assembly and cleanup part
A thing of beauty is a joy to behold.
I like that you gave it a fair shake... it's nice to see constutive criticism without totally bashing.. good video. And yes I like AVE.
Absolutely love ave. Could not be more happy seeing an honest tool review. That's the reason we watched ave 2 start with. Good job on your review.
Nice to see one still waiting for my knife
Me too😂
There is a lot of blade play, i wonder if sanding down the titanium guides a bit would help…kinda risky might make it way to tight.
Great clip. Thank you. Would the outside layered edges turn out better if the bulk of the edge sanding was done after assembly? I will try that.
I just got mine, thanks for the video, maybe he will come out with some upprade parts like blade guides for tightness or a belt clip, thanks again for showing us how to do it, cheers
AvE's production guy could make the blade spacers from thinner materials to tighten things up but then it runs the risk of being too tight if someone uses a thicker blade or gunk gets built up in there.
Its like building a model as a kid. You more time that you spend prepping each part before assembly, the better the completed product is.
Just put mine together last Friday, it’s surprisingly skookum. Contemplating some color on the layers.
When can I buy one at Cambodian Tire?
She's a beauty anna Bonnie anna joy to behold... said some famous CZcamsr somewhere.
If a couple of shims could make up that blade wobble this would be a nice knife. I like the heavyweight aspect of it.
+1 for a belt clip and rounding off edges a bit
Love mine only thing it needs is a pocket clip
I'm still waiting on mine.
The one thing that I wasn't sure about on this is if it could be assembled ambidextrous or not, it seems like it could with the swapping of panels?
I think that would work
@4:23 a couple drops of wiener schleiden definitely helps make it run smooooooth.
Hmmm, I have some tungsten disulphide in the workshop, even slipperyer than Molly...
As a laser operator I see things about how this kit was cut that kinda grate against my standards. The cut lead-ins (little divots on the side of the parts) should have been on an inside facing edge or the end of the part and the bridges on the two spacers could have been much thinner for easier cleanup. Speaking of clean up, the operator could have gave the parts a gentle wipe when the slag was hot and it mostly would have brushed off, or refine the cut to reduce how much is produced in the first place.
Whining aside, you've done a great job cleaning it up and I love the idea of the knife but these small changes wouldn't have cost any production time to result in a better finished product.
i sanded mine all the way down by hand... i love the knife but i really hated doing that i need more tools!
I’m still waiting on mine to shore up
Graphic illustration of "the other part of the machine shop" that is rarely talked about-Deburring! It's often done by hand and is absolutely necessary to get the fit and finish that is expected of machine parts and assemblies.
I got mine is the mail the other day. I'm also going to post a video on my channel. It's not this account
Got mine put together too. I am going to peen the screws over on the backside once I make sure I never want to open it again.
I’m having a problem where I live I can’t find the blades
I’ve never seen them in stores around me. I order them online. 25mm or 1” snap-off blades
That's a fun knife but for thoes who don't want to spend that much and want a ridiculous heavy sturdy 25mm snap knife look into tajima acm-700c even on board blade storage. Something a little lighter yet still stupid strong tajima ac-700s and it comes in many styles of locks and colors. 👍
Those look great, I've got an older Stanley fat max 25mm knife that I love, I wanted to get another but I think it's discontinued so I'll have to hunt down one of these Tajimas!
I just learned I had to confirm order number with phone number…
I hope I end up with one… I ordered the instant they were available.
Cool looking paperweight.
You could probably overlay random audio from his channel it'd somehow make sense.
Mine came in bubble wrap, interestingly
I know he said 4-6 weeks. But did anyone get a tracking number?
You have to get the “shop” app. It’ll notify you when it ships
@@fromthebackyard2415 I have it. No updates on this order.
Is it the best knife, no. Is it cool as hell, yes. does it make sense, no. But, for all the laughs and education ive received from watching Ave's channel, i bought one immediately. Also, took me about 10 minutes to assemble. Make cool shit and put it on tinternet.
I prefer a carpet knife personally
Something about this AvE blade holder ticks my boxes. Ill just stick with the broke arsed plastic one for the time being.
Not tea bag.
Why on earth did you sand to such a fine grit?
I took mine down to 120 and stopped there.
I've got a sneaking suspicion that you're going to get quite a few views on this; it popped up, and I'm not even looking for it.
AvE cashing in 😂
It's a nice little ditty if you want to support the Creator but it's genuinely a bad tool it's better to just buy an olfa
Did you buy one? Have you held one? 😂
It feels better in the hand than my $35 snap-on.
If only I could find 25mm blades. Every store in town has 9mm and 18mm and that's it😢
@@leftyeh6495 I know overbuilt when I see it, for the price and actual use, it's not worth it. Exotic blades, I'll stick to the olfa I've had since I was 14
I have to order 25mm blades online. I’ve never seen them in stores around me.
@@leftyeh6495 had the same issue. Lowe's sells OLFA 25mm black blades for 12 bucks for a 10 pack. They fit perfectly.
This is not for someone that just wants a knife. It's for someone that likes to work with their hands and have a part in the construction and assembly of a tool that will last lifetimes. Or until you lose it or it gets stolen
Dust collector much. 6:1 fastback all the way for me or a cheap Olfa with the slide lock button.
I'd love one, but there is no way I could justify 100 bucks for a razor knife handle. I also thought it was odd there was no pocket clip. I thick it would look good with some chemical/cold bluing.
I used a pocket clip of a beat up Kershaw
Utility….no.
Thank you for not showing your vice.
Hi AvE
Looks cool but too much play for me.
It costs $100 smackers and you have to do a bunch of hand work before you can even assemble it? Fail! I’ll stick with my Milwaukee Fastback for $20…….and it’s not a one trick pony like this thing…
Yeah, kinda backwards. If it's going to require so much finishing work, and is essentially a starting point kit, it's supposed to be cheaper than a ready to go product. It'd be like buying a Chinese digital caliper that's rough and full of grinding dust that needs to be cleaned out and deburred before use, and it cost 5x what a mitutoyo does that's ready to go out of the box... what the fukover??
This is basically just raw laser cut parts that he buys in bulk from China for 5 or 10, and sells for 100
Point missed.
@@gorak9000 its more for the peope who have been watching his free content for 10 years or whatever who just want to throw a tip in the tip jar, and get a sanding workout haha, i bought one so we will see
It’s a TWO trick pony!
Not worth $100.
Gotta pay for that Haas somehow.
Jesus h. Thats HALF a real knife. Buy the 'knife', then buy the blades? Plus, it's a light duty craft knife, for matt cutting. Almost a toy.
AvE is overrated.
Hey look a contrarian, how unusual in the youtube comments, surely that's their real opinion and they aren't just looking for attention or trying to make someone else as miserable as they are
