Bro this is like a pro documentary film. One thing is your awesome photography. But doing that whilst also shooting lovely video, and making thoughtful narration! Man, hats off!
One reason I look forward to Sunday’s is to watch your latest video! Good work! If you come back on a Rt. 66 tour, add Albuquerque, NM and Williams, AZ!
really excellent, thx for sharing . I'm also at that point where I have come to the realization that its not necessary to have a bag full of lenses. when I travel its one zoom and one prime. zen billings in canada
Hey man, cool content. I wanted to order the Haoge Thumb Grip but I saw a lot of reviewers saying the contacts are exposed and the fit is very tight. Do you have any issues with it? PS: You managed to find any Sony recipes? Thanks & keep it up bro!
My Thumb Grip doesn’t have any of the issues I’ve seen people talk about. Their quality control must be super inconsistent so I guess I just got lucky. As for recipes, Sony’s in camera settings don’t really allow for enough flexibility IMO. I just shoot raw and have my Lightroom set to apply my standard preset to all of my photos when I import them
I was hoping that you will stop by at Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, but you didn’t. Stop by there if you ever travel route 66 again. 15mins detour from route 66.
Thanks :) As always very intersting and soothing at the same time. How do you deal with perepctive distortion? Perspective adjustments in Lightroom or keep it as it is, when it happens?
Such an amazing video Dylan! Love your style and I’m learning more and more watching your content! Can I please ask your opinion? I’m a beginner and would like to buy a camera for travel photography, something that will stay with me for many years. I’m torn between waiting for the a7C 2 or get now an a7 4 for £1800.. is it ok to carry the a7 4 around with the kit lens or is it too heavy for travelling (days out carrying it around my neck)? What’s your and your wife opinion as you have one?
Thanks for watching!! For traveling I would say the A7CII would be the better option. If it’s about the same weight as the first, it will feel much lighter especially around the neck. Not to mention the kit lens on the A7C is much better than the A7IV kit lens IMO
Dylan, fantastic video with some wonderful photography. I'm considering switch from a DSLR (Nikon D610) to a mirrorless full frame. I like that this camera is lighter and a bit more affordable than the other SONY full frame options. The only thing that's causing me to consider something else is the tiny evf on this camera. I see that you mostly use the evf. What's your experience?
The tiny EVF can be very jarring at first but I got used to it pretty quickly. If you have glasses/poor eye sight I can imagine the EVF may be a pain to use. I've grown to like the smaller viewfinder over time. I talk about this a little more in depth in my A7C Two Years Later video!
@@DylanBlackburn Dylan, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it. Yes, I, subsequently, watched another video where you said that one benefit of a smaller viewfinder is that you don't have to search the frame to make sure you got it "right." I was checking the specs of the camera on B&H and one thing that was a bit of a bummer was the 1/4000 max shutter speed. Having the ability to go to 1/8000 is useful when you want to shoot at f/1.4-2.0 in broad daylight. Anyhow, there's always a trade-off when making any purchase. All the very best!
@@DylanBlackburn Dylan, quick follow up question: some reviews and forum posters complain that SONY sensors are dust magnets. And not only do they capture a lot of dust when changing lenses, but, during regular use, as well. Have you found this to be an issue, as well? Thanks again for your time.
do you use ND filter ?? and please can you share your color grading process i mean your camera setting & post work. Because i also have a7c but my colors sucks in video.
@@DylanBlackburn but A7c II will be a disappointment, i believe same evf and one card like a6700 and same ibis, but will have those ai features from zv-e1

It’s not easy to make these videos but it’s my favorite kind to make. Thank you for watching, expect more videos like this in the future!
You made a seemingly boring road quite interesting with your photographic approach to this road trip, thanks for sharing!
Your video setup is awesome! Beautifully done. Makes me want an FX3 now.
Nice to have the 3 part series all bundled into a 1 video story. Great stuff as always!
Thanks! From the beginning I wanted to make a longer "movie" version of the trip... I'm loving making these longer style videos!
Spend less money on gear and more on travelling to take photographs - the best advice I have heard on a camera channel, thank you
Always love your style man❤
Thank you🙏🏻
Hahaha, I love how you used the actual sound of the A7C’s shutter for putting your photos on screen. Nice little touch!
So happy that the A7Cii is coming out so I can grab an A7C for the cheap 😈
Do it dude! Don’t worry about the latest and greatest and enjoy this still amazing camera :)
Great photo essay. Congrats.. Keep it up. Great photos
Thanks for watching!!

Thank you so much!! Hopefully there’s a Route 66 sequel series in a year or two :)
Great job 🙂
Thanks for watching!
Your videos keep me stoked and inspired to keep shooting! Thank you for putting out such great and down-to-earth videos! Keep up the great work!!
Thank you man! That means a lot!
Great job Dylan, I loved it!.
Thank you!!
Great content Dylan! I found your channel while trying to decide on the A7C. You are the reason I own one lol! Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you so much!! Hope you’re enjoying your A7C as much as I am!
Watched the whole thing on the treadmill at the gym 😂 solid work here
Love that dude! Thanks for watching 😂

Well said! A 35mm prime and a 24-70 pair together well. I used just those two lenses for years while traveling before I started branching out.
Damn that was beautiful! Felt like watching a movie.
That was the goal! The next goal is to make the next one even better :) Thanks for watching!
@@DylanBlackburnI'll be waiting!
Great Pictures ❤❤❤
Thank you!!
Some of the video shorts here are insane
Thanks 🙌🏻
Awesome work mate! Incredible toning in your shots next to the composition! Keep it up! May I ask you what brand the red and white shirt is?
Thanks man! The shirt is from Abercrombie. Found it in the clearance section. I always stay on the hunt for new flannels
I’m still mad you didn’t include my Texas joke 😔
I’m sorryyyy I didn’t feel like rendering and uploading again 😭
Haha, you two 🫶

We passed it on i40 but weren't too interested in stopping at the time. My wife was more excited about Bug Ranch hahaha

Honestly I rarely even apply profile corrections to my photos. Sometimes I’ll just hit auto and call it a day!

Is this resolution a crop from original footage or you used an Anamorphic lense? looks cinematic.
I copped the footage in post to 3840x1640 for the cinematic look! No anamorphic lens, just a 24-105 and 20mm 1.8 for filming!
