From a few reviews I have seen there is some noticeable vignetting. It adds character and can be fixed so it's not a deal breaker, but it is present.

i have ZVE1. starting to love A7C but not the mark ii. I realize i seldom shoot 10bit in video and starting to love taking pictures. Considering to trade my camera for a new a7c, but still undecided.

I really enjoyed watching your CZcams video. It seems that people are saying the A7C2 is more suitable for hybrid shooters who want to capture both photos and videos, rather than the A7CR. Even so, would you say the A7CR outperforms the A7C2 in all aspects of both photography and videography? Based on the pixel count, the A7CR is the obvious choice, but the difference in video quality doesn’t seem that significant. What are your thoughts?

Your photo walk idea is pure gold. The biggest issue I have being new at photography is that I get all excited to go shooting, but when I get to the place, I don't see the shots. I look around and I'm at a loss. There's a town called Jackson in California that I go to once a year. It is so photogenic, but the last 2 times I've been there, I've found it so difficult to know what to shoot and end up leaving with next to nothing. I know there's an aspect to this that is a numbers game as well, but you seem to pick a target and walk away with a nice bounty. I guess it just takes practice, but that's why I absolutely LOVE these. There are so many lessons in just the convenient store segment where you wait for someone. It would never have dawned on me to slow down and allow for the opportunity for something like that to happen. I think this is where experience really comes into play. Not only shooting, but even studying photo books and magazines to know what works. We're really lucky get to watch the process of you seeing a shot, walking up to it, where you choose to stand, and how you frame things by showing the result. Man... I get so much out of these. Thanks for going though the trouble. Love this channel. P.S. My A7cii looks and feels great with its thumb grip and baseplate. Thanks for the links! 😉

In the UK right now (AUG 24) 35mm 1.8 is £385 and 35mm 1.4 GM is £1499. It is 4 x more. I will get 1.8 version.

One lens should not be wider than the other unless you had Lens breathing turned on then the camera zooms in a tad making a 35mm 37mm or 38mm

Thanks for this great overview of your bag and kit, and how lens size definitely factors into your decisions. A few months ago you posted how much you enjoyed using the Viltrox 28mm f/1.8 as a new fav. EDC lens (poor man's Q3). Did you sell this, or do you sometimes still slip it into your bag? I imagine you concluded your 20mm in APC-C crop mode (30mm equiv.) would get you close enough? I personally would not be happy with such a wide gap between the 20mm and 35mm focal lengths for landscape walks, but with such a small bag you are forced to make hard choices--which is usually a good thing. A too-bulky, heavy shoulder bag is not inspiring or conducive to comfortable photo walks .

When using this bag, where are you putting the camera and tripod you use to film?

Love the set up & your vids keep me inspired to shoot! I sold my 35 GM like yourself for the 35 FE so mines near enough the same except i keep an additional cheap Samyang 35 2.8 for extra compactness for my a7cii.

Good stuff as always. Have you ever tried the 35mm f2 Zeiss? I kinda want to try it out as an alternative to the 40mm G which I rarely use, it looks like it's a similar size.

Dude, your new place looks gorgeous! Congratulations. I also have the 50mm 2.5G but I think I’m going to let it go and get a 35mm lens. Very tempted by the Sony 35mm 1.8 but the Sigma 35mm f2 looks nice too. I like having a physical aperture ring. Have you tried the Sigma at all?

Then len a most use is the sony 90 macro ... , I do a lot of macro photography ..... I have more lens but ... when i save enough money i´m going to buy the 70-200 macro ....

I love the idea of an all primes setup, but unfortunately, it just doesn't work for me. Everybody's situation is different, but I'm 75 years old and always travel with my wife, and frequently with a group. Lens changing isn't really an option. (if I want to stay married that is) so I'm a one camera (A7CR), one lens guy. I currently carry the Sigma 28-70/2.8 but I'm considering switching to the Sony 20-70/F4. I miss the wide end a lot. What's your opinion? Oh, I do keep a 35/1.8 in the hotel room in case we are going out at night.. Thanks

I also don't understand why Sony doesn't offer the option of mounting an eyecup on the A7C (II, R). Is the viewfinder frame so much larger than on the A6700? In fact, that's why I couldn't buy the A7C at the time.

🤔I got A7cr and 20F1.8G, 40F2.5G; though I actually rarely use 20mm. I’m also considering getting a 35mm lens. Do you try to turn on the aps35 mode on the 20mm lens (so its FOV becomes the FOV of a 30mm lens)? Would you feel that 30mm FOV uncomfortable because I guess you are already quite used to 35mm?

Nice video. With travel mostly to Italy, I use Voigtlander 50mm f2.0 for nearly everything. In museums, indoors, and botanical, Voigtlander 65mm macro f2.0 is a gem. Obviously I live without autofocus, different approach. For landscape the smaller Voigtlander 21mm f3.5 is priceless. Sony A7CR platform.

And seven months later, my 7CR (silver, of course) and 40 G are in the mail. I dropped my XE4 and the bill to repair would have been about what a new XE would cost. So I just said forget it and I'm going full frame. Thanks for the great videos. Also, congrats on the new nest.

I feel like the lens gives a nice soft vibe without sacrificing detail. Some shots are really dreamy without a promist filter. I'm a novice though so idk haha

This makes me want to start a channel for myself and start taking more pictures, while sharing a few things I learned and hopefully find some like minded people along the way.

Would you happen to have a small travel case recommendation. Ice searched high and low and the best thing I could find is this hideous Lowepro bag. It won out from everything else I tried because it fits the camera exactly and makes the camera very quick and easy to access while providing adequate protection on the go. I've had to personally alter the bag to get rid of the orange and make it less hideous but I would really like a functional and good looking bag. for 35mm, contax g35 f2 is the best for my a7cR, so mall and light, and autofocus works too. that film look is unbeatable
