  • I bought this digital piano for my daughters to practice on at home, since they take piano lessons at a local music school. This Yamaha YDP-165 Arius digital piano has surpassed my admittedly humble expectations. I figured I'd teach myself some music with the Simply Piano app, and it's been a pretty fun experience to learn a new skill, read a little music, play some famous music... especially on cold/rainy days when it's tough to be outside or stargaze. I play for 10-15 minutes a day and my progress has been steady and I've surprised myself. Just a really neat product, at thousands of dollars less than real, acoustic pianos.

Been researching for the last few weeks a digital panel for my 12 year old as he is learning to play, plus I am going to learn at the same time. Your video has convinced me that the YDP-165 is what to buy so thanks. Plus looks really nice just as a decorative feature of the room. Thanks

Absolutely. I’m a year in and pretty amazed at what I’ve learned thus far, just using SimplyPiano. Rachmaninoff I will never be, but I’m enjoying it. Super happy with the 165, it’s holding up great and I don’t think I’ll ever exceed its capabilities.

Been at it now for ~2 weeks, and the improvements are notable. Lots of fun. I do 10 minutes a day, sometimes a little more -- and yeah, it's nice to have an indoor hobby when your other one is weather-dependent (astronomy).

Hello and thank you for this review. Can you connect to third part app like GarageBand and transform your 165 into a master keyboard which uses the instruments on the iPad app ? Thank you

Very nice! Wich adapter did you use to connect to your iPad?

Hi there, it’s the Apple USB-C to A adapter with the HDMI onboard. You don’t have to use such a fancy one though - it’s just what I had around from my old MacBook.
