They did something strange to the voices themselves and in some ways it makes them sound like humans but it makes them sound more like they were taken from clips of them talking elsewhere then auto tuned (just auto tuned really well) to the song. Idk why. 2 steps forward and 2 steps back
The new voices definitely sound more fluent and natural, but i definitely have a special place in my heart for the older voices, they sounded more vivid and like classic vocoloids

Hopefully someone can dig into all the files for the sprites and put 'em online (eg. The Spriters Resource/The Models Resource) and try to document as much as possible.
