I really enjoy Captain Beyond and Rhino's guitar playing. It's straight up Pentatonic, so deeply rooted in the 60s Blues Rock of Iron Butterfly. Reminds me of Steppenwolf too. But Rhino has his own way of playing things and this song is a good example of it. I am continually amazed at how distinct, unique and cohesive their first two albums are, and even though they are different, fit together perfectly. I wonder how it was that they wrote this stuff? The whole concept, the words, the melodies, and the driving blues rock. Unreal. When I hear them try to write stuff later it seems like they are trying to go back and recapture what they had at that time, which was an incredible inspiration. Yet it no longer works. Thank you for bringing out so much of their music and teaching us how to play it. I am planning on learning several of these songs (actually I learned a lot of them years ago but will finish them up now) and will make sure to give you some "super thanks" down the road.
It was a unique period in music. And they were exceptional... It's a shame they didn't achieve the commercial or critical success they deserved. Having said that, the music they left us still resonates today :-)
Fantastic job of breaking the song down riff by riff note 4 note.. mr. Hart. Please consider Tommy bolin post toastee solo. The combination of rhino and bolin both very unique players. Would be absolutely awesome. And your technique of teaching. it's absolutely the best...thank you.. well the holidays are fast approaching and I hope that you and yours have the best!!!?!
