His girlfriend was allowed to enter the park from the US side to visit my son but she was not allowed to go any further and enter Canada. While I don't believe it was technically legal, the police and border guards allowed these visits, were extremely polite and friendly but made sure that nobody actually crossed the border. It was great to see the two countries work together to allow this and all the smiles from the people that were able to meet at this park made it a worthwhile exception.
