Honestly, they never get the recognition they deserve. Jackson is in some small part John Wick himself, as he takes all his damage. And the last time Keanu had an amazing stunt man with him for a legandary action movie series, he went on to become the writer and co-director of John Wick and the director for the series.

You never hear actors giving props to their stunt men, that being said Keanu Reeves is still one bad motherfucker, he has to learn so many different fighting styles it’s insane. But props to a stunt man, because I don’t think anybody takes more of a beating than that guy does.

Definitely. Stunt professionals are crazy as sh** but they are still professionals that know how to do things without serious injury (most of the time). Let them do the stuff they are good at and then give them the credit.
Never remember hearing an action star give the actual name of their stunt double before. Not saying it hasn’t happened, but… probably very rare! Kudos to Keanu! ❤

When it comes to weather suntment should get oscars I agree and disagree with weather there should be a stuntman award. I'll be up front with this this is the opinion of a stuntman can't remember who but he was on stuntman reacts on Corridor. The argument against Stuntmen getting an Oscars category was it could lead to stuntmen taking more risks than necessary and hurt or kill themselves I'm hopes of getting the golden man. His counter offer was that there should be best stunts in a film, best stunt crew in a film or a best stunt coordinator/supervisor a film.
Their association does their own awards, which is almost surprising due to the how many want their craft to be invisible to the audience.
I always wonder why the actors never drop the names of the people that make their lives so much better. Props to him for doing it.

He has always given credit and special treatment to his crew. He famously gave his bonus for The Matrix to the production crew on the movie, telling them they were the true talent who had made the movie what it was.
When you look at what tragic personal life he has had and then what a caring and necessary man he is, it’s a real lesson to the rest of us. I don’t think he’s a great actor, but he’s earned my respect, making him my favorite celebrity.
If the producers change them, it's different names - potentially many. It is not just upon the actor, it depends on the entire production environment.

@@xtreme3353the point of saying the name first is that you’re emphasizing the person and not the role. It’s a sign of respect to name the person first. Most stuntmen are never named by their acting counterparts in interviews. Keanue Reeves is going above and beyond to show his respect to his coworker.

Keanu is the kind of guy to give recognition to the unseen guys. After John Wick 4, he offered a Rolex to each of his stuntmen, engraved with personal message for each of them.
And on the Matrix serie, he gave a part of his salary to the Special Effects team, saying they deserved it more.
He also offered a Harley Davidson to each of them on the original Matrix
He is a humble person. That is the type of role models needed for men. Unfortunately he is too few and far between.
He also went back on set during a day that he had off just to stop in and say happy birthday in person to a crew member. I think that may have been lance Reddick tbh. May that legend rip

If you want to see Keanu practicing his "action" there are great videos of him at the gun range with Michelle Rodrigeuz and just going full ham with tactical reloads blitzing targets with a silly high degree of accuracy. The man knows what he's doing

it's cool when the big actors name their stunt-doubles. it's one of the hardest jobs in movie-making, and CGI+shakeycam+fastedits is nowhere near replacing good stunt work.

I love Keanu, he's one of the few that you don't ever hear negative stuff about. Plus, everything I've read says he's a genuinely kind. hearted man
Besides him giving full credit to Mr. Spidell, it's also refreshing that he doesn't feel any need to feed his ego by doing dangerous stuff that would hold up the entire production if he gets hurt doing it. The crew doesn't get paid while they're not filming, so Keanu staying in his lane is actually another way he cares for all the people working with him.

There's actually a really good reason for not having an oscar for stunts.
If you have that oscar, it's going to lead to people doing riskier and more out there stunts for the sake of getting that nomination. And that sort of escalation would inevitably get someone killed.
Stunt people should get more credit, but not having an oscar for them is for the best

I'm OK with that, some people studied their entire lives to be a stuntman they understand how to be hit make a believable but they know how to do it to where they won't be hurt to bad. Please don't ever tell me anything bad about this dude he is literally the only celebrity that is just genuinely a good dude

Also like... It's common decency. Actors who insist on doing their own stunts are jeopardising people's pay for their own ego. If Keanu breaks a collarbone doing his own stunts, that whole production will shut down for a while. A lot of people will not get paid during that.
While it's awful if a stuntman gets hurt, and they should be compensated fully for the risk, you can still go on with the rest of the film. Film non-action scenes til he's recouperated, bring in an additional stuntman etc.
But if the lead gets hurt.... What you gonna do? Film all the scenes that are just his legs?

People that genuinely believe that Tom does 100% of his own stunts are delusional. At least 2 of Tom's stuntmen have died on his movies, and he has the nerve to tell everyone "I do all of my own stunts." Zero respect for him, all my respect for Keanu for giving credit where it's due
The two men who died were stunt pilots who were reported to be reckless and not fully aware of the need to be extra vigilant when operating in Colombian airspace on the movie American Made. There were three of them in the plane that crashed. The survivor stated that when making the film Cruise did indeed do his own stunts. @@amyitis
