Guys, you CAN ride pigs!
You need a saddle, and a carrot on a stick.
Place the saddle on the pig, and right click the pig. (Right click is to press buttons, open doors, place blocks, etc.)
Then hold the "Carrot on a Stick" in your hand (on the hotbar, move the cursor over to the "Carrot on a Stick") and that's about it!
EDIT: Oh wait nevermind you already figured out how. But watch out for hostile creatures in the night! Those are dangerous.
