The US government needs to take away recreational activities in prisons from murderers,child molesters and serial killers. I'm a New Yorker! Everyone wants more prisons, homeless shelters and affordable housing. Yet they want these entities as long as they're not built in their respective neighborhoods, because they believe that it'll effect their property values. But then they'll turn around and complain that there's too much homeless on the streets and that the courts are engaging in revolving door justice. Typical New Yorkers, they want their cake and eat it too!

1. The wife's comments about her deceased husband is so powerful, so complimentary and yet so sad.
2. This event confirms that cab drivers or store owners should never be forced to conduct business with certain types of people.
3. After these criminals did not pay their fare and robbed the cab driver they still were evil enough to beat him to death.
4. Why are these criminals covering their faces? These thugs are proud to commit evil.
5. To add insult to injury the New York District Attorney will most likely give these criminal a very light sentence.
I hate it when the victim or victim's family "forgives" their attackers. That's some bs coping mechanism.

You can’t convince me they deserve to keep living.
Younger individuals need to understand that if you knock someone out with a punch, they will fall to the ground and if they're on a hard surface, then it could be a very hard fall to the head. Brain injuries can easily result, including those that lead to death.
Just because you thought it was a punch or even a justified fight doesn't absolve you of the responsibility of the outcome of whomever you hit or somehow cause to fall on their head. It's still a death, either manslaughter, or in some cases murder. And you cannot get out of the charge just because you didn't know they were going to fall and injure themselves or die. You are responsible for the action that led to their fall and you'll be held culpable for the final result.
With so many cameras everywhere, it's going to be harder to hide. And the long arm of the law is diligent, persistent, will go on for days, weeks, months, years, and even decades. It's just you versus professional law enforcement agencies and numerous detectives whose daily job day in and day out is to find out who did what and then send that information to those who will apprehend you. You'll be running from the law for the rest of your life because of ONE punch.
It's not worth it, nor is it right to do so in almost any circumstances except maybe self-defense.
If you don't care about other people, at least care about your life and future that will eventually be derailed once caught.
Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

As a 20 year old who recently started working for Lyft this story is so sad. Just an honest man trying to work and provide for his family but kids my age decided to end his life. I take Taxi’s and always pay for my fare but like come on if you don’t have for the fare just talk or don’t even take the cab. I’m glad the family is getting justice and rip to him

( He was in his late 60’s). He forgave the person and didn’t want to press charges when it was all said and done. He said that people make mistakes. Long story short, a few months later we found out he rob another elderly man and was in jail.

I live in Farrockaway where this incident occurred. Clearly there was 4 people attacking this cab driver. My whole heart hurts for this family. Those young adults were absolutely wrong for what they caused. This situation is horrific.

The suspects were released within an hour when they posted the 3 dollars bail. The police were then ordered to call a cab to take the suspects back to their neighborhood to continue their lifes of crime.
