"Stretching Scars" Wilderness Therapy to Regain Range of Motion & Emotional Capacity 😎 Firebox Stove

- Wilderness is pure authenticity with depth billions of years old, a powerfully therapeutic environment to both body and soul.
This is the longest cut of this back packing primitive wild camping trip with my dogs Ash and Juni and my pack goat Bill. I let the clips run long so you could feel what it's like to be in the wild living a bushcraft lifestyle immersed in nature deep in the wilderness catching trout for dinner and cooking over a wood fired 5" G2 Firebox Stove then sleeping under the stars and moon. I hope you can relax and let go for an hour to taste what being part of nature feels like.
As scar tissue forms it shrinks and tightens. If we don't go through the painful process to stretch them they will affect our range of motion and or emotional capacity. No pain, no gain.
I am a regular guy who loves nature and enjoys creating outdoor products that make camping that much more fun.
Here are a few links to some of the gear used in the show. Thanks in advance for checking out my website. Cheers, Steve

As someone who does a lot of backpacking, I appreciate how much extra work goes into filming an already chore heavy activity. There are times that I’m too tired to cook and end up eating my breakfast for dinner. I can’t imagine filming all this. And the clean up. Bravo Steve. You’re a savage
Thanks so much! It's nice knowing someone appreciates just how tired I am at the end of one of these days 👍😎
Such a beautiful place, I really enjoy it, I really love this channel,
Thank you so much Sir,
Stay blessed, happy and healthy forever.
I love that you took all the animals packs off before you took off your own. Great Video thanks so much.
Our pleasure!

So glad to see you out and filming again. I cant imagine the pain in therapy after the accident, and know from experience making yourself deal with past trauma can be a difficult but rewarding process. Hang in there my friend!
Thank you kindly, that really means a lot! I still have a bit of healing, but it's coming along well. 😁🔥😁🔥
Hey, Steve! I really feel for you and can relate to your opening comments. I shattered my left patella in a motorcycle accident in 2003, and doctors did not expect me to return to "flight" status back when I was in the USAF. After a lot of therapy, I was cleared to fly later that year and retired from the USAF in 2008. Returning to motorcycle riding helped me fix some balance issues with my weak leg and later got into into backpacking, which helped with my weak ankles. Your adventures always inspire me to get out, try new adventures, and to find new ways to make awesome food while out in nature. IMHO, the Firebox stove is a backpacker's dream. I hope that you have a speedy recovery, and I'm confident that you will handle this challenge with a lot of grace. Best wishes my friend. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure.
Thank you very much for your comment. It's always nice when someone can relate so well to what you have been though. It's great to hear how well you recovered and what helped you. Thank you for sharing and for your support!
I love seeing you back out cooking on trail. Whenever I use my Firebox stoves I think of you, your family, wonderful animals, and feel our lives are connected in a wonderful way. I’ve watched so many hours of your videos, picked up some great ideas, and enjoy surprising my family and friends with unexpectedly great food or coffee while hiking. I’m sorry your recovery is a painful one, but grateful you are able to continue to do the things you love.❤
Thank you so much Jan 👍😎 I so appreciate your ongoing support!
I love how you take care of yourself and your animals. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thank you!
Gooood morning from central Florida! Hope everyone has a great day!
Good evening from India

Glad to see you are out, hope Levi is doing well. Life with furry buddies are always rewarding and better than human friends. Wishing you and Levi speedy recovery.
So true!
I've somehow missed what happened to Levi..what happened ?
Thanks for the video Steve, it was great to see you out and about and sorry to hear about your accident, I like you better on land than on a bike, their fun but dangerous. Hope that you heal well both physically and mentally and become even stronger than before. I've enjoyed your videos and have missed the four of you fishing, camping, cooking and teaching us how to do things out in nature well. The extra work that you put in with the camera footage is amazing , even when recuperating from surgery, quite admirable. Blessings to you and family, Thank You. 🙏🥰🐾🌟✌
Thank you very much for your kind words. It meant more than you know! 😊 blessings to you and your family as well. I'm definitely more cautious now since the break.
Good to hear you are healing and yes physical therapy is not a walk in the park but I can walk and run after a total knee replacement
Nice! Thanks for the encouragement!
Incredibly beautiful words to open this video. Much respect and much love to you and your family.
Thank you for the kind words, that means so much! 😊
I love your packgoat, Bill, it's great to see these awesome animals as companions and pack animals! Thank you for making this, I hope your foot feels better.
Thank you very much, it's so nice to be back out there. Slowly but surely!! 😊😁😊😁
"Quiet contemplation in the wilderness is the best therapy of them all " well said . I feel so rejuvenated , after a backpacking trip. The smells, the sounds , the silence only broken by a squirrel chirping ....... thanks for sharing !!!
Thank you Justin!
Dude, you've just hit me right in the feels, I've just begun a similar journey, mentally if not physically,
and you're So right about getting it off your shoulders and under your feet where it helps form a stronger foundation.
Thank you So much for your perspective on that, it really helps, I wish you a full and speedy recovery xo.
Thank you very much for your comment, I'm so glad that you've appreciated my perspective. It's important to take care of yourself so you can give more to the important people in your life. Have fun out there. Cheers to you! ☺️
I watch you load bill and miss my goat he NEVER stood still during loading the packs. But he loved to swim so no water problems. He was and still is a good memory
It's awesome that you have those memories with your Goat! We bottle fed the goats from a young age and trained them daily so they do great out there. They think I'm part of the herd. 😁
Morning Steve. Glad you are still going strong. Thanks for bringing us along on this "healing" adventure. Continued prayers for complete recovery.
Thank you very much, it's appreciated! 😁
Appreciate your openness about your emotional journey. Also, love the part where Bill is being stubborn and bonks that guy’s tent 😂😂
Lol 🤣 he keeps me on my toes for sure! Thanks for the kind words, it's appreciated!!
This is some really deep stuff that hits home for many of us. Thanks for sharing and know that you are not alone. Great long video and pray for a speedy recovery. Cheers!
Thanks Mike 👍😎👌
What a beautiful, peaceful thing to watch from grim old UK! Love your animals. Wishing you a speedy recovery. 😊
Thank you very much!
Glad to see your recovering. Praying for a full and speedy recover for you.
Thank you kindly, your comment is very appreciated!
Congratulations on getting back out there, Steve. Some years ago, I suffered a severe injury in an armed robbery, so I know all too well the frustrations of recovering from a traumatic incident. Sometimes it feels like you'll never be whole again. But you'll get there, taking it one step at a time as you're doing. And spending time in nature is a real balm.
Watching your videos and getting out into the wild (accompanied by several Firebox products, of course:) has certainly aided my healing, both physical and emotional. Thank you.
Wishing you strength and peace.
Thank you for sharing that with me. It's great to hear what's helped you in your recovery. It definitely could be worse and I'm very thankful it is not. Have fun out there and happy healing furthermore. 😁
I broke my ankle in three places. That is now 10 years ago. I still don't dare to run. Some days it doesn't hurt but other days it does. I hope you are healing better! Thanks for the great video again!
Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. I was hoping to avoid having this effect the rest of my life but it was a pretty bad break. Thanks for the insight.
👍Good Job👍
Thanks so much!! 😁
Beautiful Green Valley.
It really is! 🔥
Sorry to hear about your accident Glad to see you back out doing what you love to do, Happy Trails 👣
Thank you Kay!
First, of my friend, I am so glad you are okay .. any kind of trauma physical/emotional will take a toll on you and everyone around you .. I am glad you found a way of coping .. and we get to see you do what you do best now .. thank for not giving up on yourself
Well said, thank you for that!
Look at that talented Ash, driving the truck like that! Bill sure is getting big. He did love that wood structure to hang out in, gave him that sense of being able to hide. But that pesky stalking rooster found y'all. Hope that hoof heals fully for ya Steve.
Lol! I was waiting for someone to notice! Rat dog for the win!
Hoping all goes well with your recovery, and you get back to 100% in no time. I envy your life brother! Your videos allow us an escape, and escape from this crazy world. Thank you for sharing these amazing journeys with us!
Thank you for the kind words, that really means a lot. I'm glad the videos have offered you an escape from this crazy world. 🤪 Have fun out there!
Steve sorry to hear about your accident thats rough. I do hope you're healing up well and on the road to recovery. Interesting you have one of those air mattresses. Ive seen them before and there great for saving on space. Im sure the air collection bag can also be used as a dry bag which is cool. I think Bill was just missing his buddy Levi, i hope he's ok. Thanks for the adventure Steve. All the best & One step at a time👣 👍
Thanks Ray, Because of multiple blockages Levi had his urinary tract rerouted out the back which makes it difficult to put a pack on him. I have some ideas and hope to get him back on the trail soon.
I really heard your opening message not just your motorcycle accident... I've been threw it too... so many of us have.. I'm willing to bet you and your family are going to do very well.. your a great inspiration... thank you....
Thank you Chris! 👍😎
Thanks for sharing your road to recovery. I hope you can get back the range of motion. Great video as always. 👍💪
Thank you Rod👍😎
It;s amazing, all the sounds in the morning, squirrels, and birds. That Dale is a pretty smart goat too!. Got his own room with a view!! Lol Thanks for the video Steve. Hope you heal up well.
Thank you so much for the comment! Healing up nicely, it's just taking a bit. 😁
This has to be the best Hiking team I have ever seen, brilliant.
Thank you so much for being here!
I’m glad to see you’re recovering well, Steve. My wife had a motorcycle accident just as she was graduating high school. The scars are still there but her spirit is great, just as yours is. We love your products and use them frequently if only making breakfast on the deck. Take care and may God be with you and yours.
Thank you Paul say hi to your wife for me 👍😎
Glad your back out there Steve! That trout recipe looks really good.
It turned out amazing! 😁 thanks for watching and commenting.
Dude, you’re the best 🫶
Thanks for sharing your vulnerabilities. It helps all of us stay more flexible and hold less stigma around tough topics, when more of us are open. We love your channel and are here to support you !
Thank you for your kind comments and reassurance. I will admit I was a little apprehensive about moving forward with being this exposed. I think it's helpful to me and I hope it can be helpful to others 🤞🙏😎
Exactly what I needed to hear and see today. I can’t say many things bring me happiness in life but watching your videos is one of them. Thank you. 🥰
Goat cam made me burst out laughing. Lol
Thank you for the kind words, it's great to hear that you've enjoyed watching and that the videos bring you peace. 😁
It is so nice to see you getting back to your normal routine. Yes Physical therapy is very important for getting back to normal.
My sister used to call it "Physical Terror-py" because of the discomfort. Keep going, but also remember to take it easy. Peace!
Thank you very much. It's definitely a love/hate thing with physical therapy lol. 🤣🤪🤣🤪
thanks for the great video as always, you never disappoint. hope you heal quick, that must really suck but you'll be back to normal with your positive attitude. I'm always looking forward to your videos and thanks for faithfully posting your shorts, that always curves the craving lol. be well Steve and thanks again for everything including your awesome stoves.
Thank you so much for your comment, that really means a lot. I'm healing up rather nicely.
Sorry to hear about your accident. Steve, but it's nice to see you up and about. Good on you for keeping up with your physical and psychological therapy! I love how so many of us are so open about our struggles now. That silence was so detrimental to our recovery and others' awareness for so long.
Have you considered using trekking poles, at least while you're still recovering? I found them very helpful while hiking after a broken foot. Once I got my strength back in my ankle and foot I had come to enjoy hiking with them so much that I kept them :)
Thanks so much for your experience informed input. I need my hands for filming. I did pick up a very sturdy ankle brace for my next hike👍😎👌
Hands down one of my favorite CZcams channels!!!! Discovered during the pandemic
That is awesome, thank you very much for your support!! Glad to have you here. 😁
QUE LUGAR LINDO SÓ QUE TÁ FALTANDO UMA CABRA ? DEUS CONTINUE TE ABENÇOANDO ❤
Steve as the proud owner of your equipment (which is top ace notch). My late wife (who I lost to cancer this last march) bought my first Firebox stove. Now I cherish it even more. I hear ya on the emotion healing and what the mountians can do. We all carry a ton of baggage as we age and being in the wilderness has a special power to move this weight from the sholders to the hips and finally the feet as you say. My journey in healing will be begin as soon as I get out of my own cancer battle. I will be ready for the hills and the solitude it will bring and hope that it will bring me the peace and wisdom to push ahead. I look forward very much to fried potato's, onions and a brook trout over my firebox.
When I was 18 (now 61) I had a motorcycle that I wrecked as well. Shattered my Talus in my ankle (as well as 10 other major bones). I find that I have to wear full hiking boots laced tight and always bring some extra supports. Yes you will live on Advil (I take 800mg everyday). It gets better but never goes away. Take care and keep pushing on....
So sorry for your losing your wife and dealing with cancer I sure appreciate your informed insight and wish you the very best moving forward I sure hope you get back out in those hills and enjoy some sunrises and sunsets. Thanks so much for taking the time. Steve
Great to see you hiking again! I like your authentic way of documenting your trips.
I appreciate that!
Great video Steve, thanks for sharing this adventure. Take care and rest well my friend.
Thanks, will do!👍😎 Cheers Mark!
Great to see you back at it. Good luck with your healing journey.
Thank you very much, it's nice to be back!
I really enjoy your videos Steve! Love the goats, dogs and the family fun! So very sorry to hear about your accident! Glad you are healing in more ways than one! Best wishes!
Thank you kindly for your words. That is appreciated! I'm healing up better and better, thankfully. 😁
Hi Steve, I understand your pain. I had my knees replaced one after the other. Recovery IS all about stretching that scar tissue. And in the process, you become very aware of what a toll it takes on the rest of your body, and that too, gets right in your head and heart. It's a shocking concept when it finally sets in. I'm happy that you're willing to get out where the healing is best and take the pain that goes with progress. Please be careful out though. It may never be the same, but you don't want to injure yourself trying to get back on track. And don't forget to give yourself a break when it comes to feeling bad. You're working harder than most will ever know. That fish looked yummy! I loved Bushcraft Bill's reaction to the coffee. The monkey bread in a cup had me drooling. Be well, take it slow. Prayers for you.
Thank you so much for your kind advice and encouragement.Your wisdom is much appreciated. I definitely pushed it a little too hard on that trip. My foot doctor sold me a ankle brace and seem to think I was lucky that I didn't sprain mine when I told him how many times I rolled it.👌👍😎
@@fireboxstove I hope the brace does the trick. You've got some spectacular settings to use for slow and steady recovery. And some great companions to help with carrying the load!
OMG hope your recovery is going well!! Being in nature will help the process, take it easy!
It really does help a lot, it's so nice feeling being back out there. 😁
I'm sorry for your accident. Please be well, we appreciate your posts. In spite of your injuries, you manage to post. Your are an inspiration, Steve! Stay well, prayers to you.
fr SJ, CA
Thank you kindly. My foot is healing up rather nicely thank goodness. 😊

Thank you very much for your kind words. It is very appreciated! We are happy to have you here enjoying the scenery!
Recovery well sir.. and by the way.. awesome video and like always.. the food is so delicious 😋..
Thank you so much!!
Enjoyed another great hiking trip of yours. Glad to see you pushing through the foot problems. It will get easier each time. Great food, but you are right, half pound of flour would have made enough. Lol!
Half a cup not a pound. Thanks!
I wish I could just follow you for one day! You would be the greatest outdoor teacher! I am glad you are healed enough for another camping! You are a great man to be inspired! I am going through lot as man right now! More than I can bear! I find some peace by watching your videos! 🙏🏼 🙏🏼 🙏🏼
Happy to hear you are healing in different ways. I know childhood trauma. I'll never forget but it stays in my past and I move forward always. Looking forward to more videos if your injury will allow. Take care.
Thank you Jody! take care!
As always, I enjoyed this very much. Hope you mend speedily. That Bill is something else! Good vibes coming your way!
Thank you Donny👍😎
Bill is so intelligent scoping out his own hotel room.. guess Levi relaxing at home. Those bacon fumes came right through the screen! Yum! Bless your heart dealing with all that healing pain. I imagine that trauma is probably building some type of perspective . I get my enjoyment from your videos and I thank you. Please be careful and take your time hiking. Praying for solid recovery.
Thank you very much, that is appreciated! Smell-O-Vision would be a great thing to have!! 🤣 I'm healing right up, slowly but surely!
Seeing you with scars and your work to overcome your pain and grief helps me and others am grateful to you, god bless you and your family and dogs & goats
Thank you kindly, that really means a lot!!
I have not seen Levi in some time. I enjoy every video you have put out and I revisit them often. I am thinking that the pack goats work real good as a team. If he is gone I would love to see you get a good helper for Bill.
Because of multiple blockages Levi had his urinary tract rerouted out the back which makes it difficult to put a pack on him. I have some ideas and hope to get him back on the trail soon.
Glad you're on the road to recovery and producing content again. Love your vids. Btw, what's the name of that instrument you're playing in this vid?
Thanks for your support, the miniature didgeridoo is called a didg-box👍😎
I’m a first time er…
I’m glad your on the mend…

The rain..
Crackling of the proteins !!!

Hi Steve, God bless you brother!🙏. Thank you for being open and vulnerable about your pain, it is a humbling journey I know. Thanks for reminding us that you too are human…I was starting to think you were a superhero…now I’m a little more convinced😊. Praying for your continued recovery and healing 🙏. Life is a refining fire leading us further down the road of humility. One day all our pain and sorrow will be gone forever. Blessed to know your unquenchable spirit of love will continue down the trail. Fight the good fight brother! God bless!❤

Hey Stove, good to see you camping again. Loved the travel size didgeridoo. that must help with your spirituality and emotionality. scar tissue yep. i got them inside and out. i believe your PT is exactly what i experienced for both my emotional and physical injuries. Loved Bill's stubbornness and your "lets go, let's go let's go!" awesome! keep on keeping on. Never give up! thanks.
Thanks so much for your support, it's appreciated! My foot is healing up nice thankfully. 😁
Bless your heart on your recovery ❤
Thanks Diane!
I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery! Your crash also reinforces me wearing my ADV boots whenever I'm on one of my own bikes!! That knife looks great-something we just added to our kit as well. You make incredibly useful tools for the outdoors!
I was wearing Garnet Enduro boots when this happened I've sence upgraded SG 12s in hopes they'll be a little more protective.
Ouch!! I ride Gaernes myself-Dakars!@@fireboxstove
Ash always makes me smile.
She is pretty dang awesome! Thanks!

My absolute favorite twig stove is the Firebox g2! I hope I can afford the titanium version one day. Love how great it wworks with my GSI Pinnakle 10"! I use it with twigs, char coal and pellets. Works great!👍 thank you for sharing!👍
Thank you so much for the support and gleefully you can get the 5" titanium sooner than later.
❤Good Work Nice Vlog❤

Always feeling better and better!
Wow , this is the life I love, the outdoors, fishing , cooking, camping , mother nature at its best...well done on a well documented video ....loved it 👍
Thank you very much, it's great to hear you enjoyed watching! 😁
Ol' Bill 🐐 being quite "The Pill" at the 48 minute mark!!! 😆 Love your videos Steve, glad you are healing up brother.
Lol! He definitely has a mind of his own.
Your wise words will help many of us who didnt realize the burdens that are carried. Thank you...stay safe. Perhaps some of us will learn to "stretch scars"
Thank you tracker!
Thanks for all the work to film for us. I shared this with my friend who broke her foot badly and is in pain and frustrated with not being able to live her life right now. We are all helping her with things she cannot do right now but she will be back on the road again soon. Thanks for the chuckle Bill, you are some goat. Dogs are so sweet.
Thank you for sharing our company! 😁 your support is greatly appreciated!!
Love your outings. Sorry about your injury. I know sometimes the surgery is more of a back set to the original injury. Tustin stay at it. Use it as much as the body will allow.
I severed a tendon in my hand on a canoe trip. The survey was far more painful and injurious but a necessary evil. Finally a year later and my hand is almost as good as new. You’ll definitely get there.
That meal was amazing. Great fish.
Then watching you eat it I thought “ Capers!”
Adding more to the flavor profile. My culinary input for the next trip.
Yum. ❤
Thank you very much for the encouraging comment, that was very kind of you. 😁 it's healing up nicely and teaching me patience.
I love, love your videos and your animals. I used to raise registered Nubian dairy goats and now my son has a couple of does that had kids. I keep thinking the one wither would make a great pack goat.
So glad your foot and ankle are getting better!!
Linda from Missouri 👍♥️😊🥰
Yes. A bottle baby wither would be a great pack goat 👍😎
Steve this was epic. I appreciate you being vulnerable and sharing. It is so powerful for men (especially) to see/hear this. My journey has been very similar to yours and I have found myself over the past 8 months unpacking 42 years of emotional bondage. It was great to see you out doing what you love, I can see the emotional/physical pain in your face...those little critters you bring along also feel it and they are so entuned to you. You are truly blessed and I wish you the best from the SouthEast. On a not-so serious note...I caught myself wanting to swat the mosquitos away as I watched this video. Thanks for being a solid dude and for your content/products! I still have my eye on the chef knife and your hat setup (genius)!
Thank you for the comment and kind words, I'm so glad you found the video helpful. The animals are definitely in tune with me and so very appreciated for it. I wish you the best in your healing journey, good for you to be facing it honestly. I hope you can try out the Chef Knife sooner than later.
whew good see a nice recovery.
God bless you ❤
I❤️ your videos and friends, beauties places. Thank you for everything this is happiness for me.😻😻😻😻😻😘
Thank you for watching! 😁
Beautiful; thank you. Wishing you a day filled with love and peace!
Thank you Kathleen right back to you 🙏🤞😎
