Rapid growth in the number of public charter schools, which now serve more than three million students nationwide, has sparked debate over their implications for educational equity. Proponents contend that charters provide an escape valve for low-income, mostly minority students in struggling school districts, while critics allege that charters serve a select few, reinforce racial and economic school segregation, and destabilize urban communities. Some prominent organizations within the civil rights community have called for a moratorium on charter growth. Do charter schools enhance or undermine equity in American education? Should their growth be encouraged or curtailed? Join us as leading educators, policymakers, and researchers come together to debate the charter school movement and its future.

thank you for NOT breaking up this topic into sound bites!!!!
Passing a math test/proficiency: Has anyone questioned the types of questions on math examinations today against the 1960s test standards/proficiencies???? So, just what are in the math tests of today/compared.?? Here in Albuq. we had one charter school who was happy to promote verbally by administration within the the school's website as one without one text book in the building...only online digital teacher generated math problems, material, etc.....via the Chromebook. And other charter schools promote history and social studies geared toward anti-capitalist viewpoints, anti-gender, BLM topics, etc. 😒

So much talk about segregation. Do parents really care about the colour of their child's classmates? I would mostly care about the quality of the education, not the ethnic makeup of the school.

haha the presentations alone should tell you everything about this. On the pro side, owners of charter schools, including a politician who made their own profits possible.

This video is too long. The important, or significant arguments, need to be broken-down into 10 minute segments.

@MyAvatarTablet 2 Did you not go to university? Two hours is a typical debate. There are ways to increase your attention span if that's a problem for you. I'd suggest looking into it because this is where real work gets done. Not on 10-minute PragerU videos or tiktok clips.
