Something to be said for those old wooden Sherwood PMP sticks. You could hit a guy 30 times with one and break every bone in his body without it breaking, and they only cost $12.
I disagree with that. I refused to use anything but wooden sticks in high school 10 years ago and I had to bring 3 to every game because it wasn't uncommon for me to break one or two per game. They were reliable in their flex and curve but they were definitely very breakable. I was also a right handed D playing on the left side so my biggest job most nights was to try for a big one timer or slap shot in traffic.

Similar point production this year, Makar has 10 in 11, Hughes with 14 in 16. Makar is -7, Hughes is plus 5. Canucks are one of the worst teams in the league. Girard is 10 times better than Makar so far this year.
He is just about to take the hit shoulder to shoulder and then turns his back to Girard a split second before he gets there. He doesn't have a right to be mad...it was entirely him who caused the hit to be that dangerous.

It is a defensive tactic that is now used in the current NHL for guys who don't like to get hit. They purposely turn towards the boards to discourage hits - because it will be boarding - so the guy getting ready to hit them will pull up. This time Girard hit him anyways and he was pissed. Patrick Kane is a OG master of this. You see it all the time now with all the skinny, fast hockey players in the current NHL. Soccer players on skates essentially.
