I really like your videos and your commentary & vibe....its refreshing to see a solo man traveller making these videos..seems the "industry" is awash with 20 something couples with a pretty ( usually) young girl helping the views and subscribers along and good luck to them, its great to see you doing your thing, explaining in detail the cost of food, hotels, trips etc which is what everyone wants to know...keep up the good work my friend

That Ibis styles on Padma is my go to, stayed there many times, great value.
Ibis really is great value! Plus yours looks to have superb dinner specials.
I can't believe the price of hotel rooms both in Bali and Thailand. I have a pretty comfortable suite in a hotel an old friend of mine owns and I pay a decent price for renting but the rooms are from $ 100 to $ 150 a night for regular guests. The difference is I live in Canada and things are a wee bit more expensive but your Canadian as well so you can relate to that. At least this winter when I'm in Thailand I won't have to pay a heating bill and it won't take me 15 minutes to get dressed to make a 5 minute walk.

In 1987 there was nothing on Double 6 beach other than the Double 6 club! It was also called Gado Gado beach and was in the middle of "Nowhere" lol

To be in Bali, that close to the beach, for just $8 per night, is an absolute steal. No wonder there looked like there were some people staying long term, at an expected discount, that can't be more than maybe $200 a month!!!!

@@SideTripLife hope you're having an amazing time. Bali is well known for its walled, private pool villas. If you get a chance, might be worth checking out one of them. I know Phuket has tried to replicate something similar, but nothing can match the narrow lanes of Bali.

I love that you enjoy traveling single and sharing how affordable life is living abroad. As you mention, the vibe is not resort living, the VIBE is the beach. I LOVE REGGAE TOO!! I plan to retire abroad in 3 years. I’ve experienced Mexico’s vibe for 3 years. Now it’s time for me to visit Pattaya, Thailand (May of 2024). After Thailand I will visit Bali. Just sharing, the best beaches in Bali from my opinion are:
- Seminyak Beach (best for the hedonists)
- Melasti Beach (best for a scenic drive)
- Nusa Lembongan (best for day trippers)
- Jimbaran Beach (best for seafood sunsets)
- Amed Beach (best for diving & snorkeling)
- Sanur Beach (best for sunrise & cycling)
- Kuta Beach (best for all-things tourism)
- Lovina beach (best for spotting dolphins)
Still tens of beaches, but I recommended those above

Well what a great place you chose to stay. Perfect base for exploring and what a great price. Definitely my favourite. Not surprised you went to another Ibis. Who knew 🙂 there would be two so close. Lovely sunset!! I would be scared flying a drone too. Really loved the look of the nano nano restaurant. They have put a lot of effort in and it looks fabulous. I saw on previous comments that someone said you are expected to reply to every comment. I don't agree, it's enough spending all that time videoing, editing. Just walking to a few places to look around is exhausting in the heat. Comment when you want to and feel like it. The reason I haven't commented so much before isn't because I havnt watched until the end, it's more to do with, often I have a lot to comment on - see above 🤣🤣 I watch all your videos though, can see you could do with some encouragement at the moment so commenting more :) well thank you for showing me some amazing places, definitely much better than the news. Oh when you can would you put more links in the description for previous and future videos. As you tube doesn't do this and it can be impossible to search for these on you tube if I don't know the title.
Ps I would still like to see the bathrooms in the rooms you pick, I saw someone commented on that too. Brave asking for feedback and not all feedback is good for you.

We are going to be traveling for about a year leaving Sept 2023. We plan to visit Bali, Lombok, Malaysia, Phillipines, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. I appreciate that you do seek out many local and cultural things to do as we are not into the Touristy things to do and only rarely.

Wow. A very comprehensive review STL. I don't usually like hotel reviews, but you have blended it in with lots of other activities and all done in 30 mins. Very good. Still too many of my fellow countrymen there for me personally as defeats the purpose of International travel, but looks great nevertheless. Well done. Great to see Bali busy again.

The beach scene up Legian way is pretty chill despite the crowds. La Plancha's tunes and atmosphere tops on the beach for sure (food look great too). STL
@@SideTripLife you'll get more crowds as you head towards Seminyak, Petitenget, Batu Belig, and Canguu which are really great areas. The food at La Planca is very good, it's usually one of my first stops when I ever arrive to chill after a flight. They're the same owners as La Favela in Seminyak and La Brisa in Canguu. Looking forward to your next vlog :)

The influx of Tourist coming back to Bali is doubled edged sword. Great for Balinese community and economy but the behavior, lack of respect and self-entitlement some of these people would put me off. I Love your SideTripLife videos though. Bali looks very affordable.

@@Jung1981giggles yeah right im here now and can't walk down the street without every shop worker cat calling me and quoting me outrageous prices prices (from across the street 😂 "where you from" and "good day mate" even tho im American)...there also really isn't a influx of tourists- dead prettt dead. most of the hotels i went to so far where almost empty. And yes the shop people get mad at you because you wont buy a wooden dick from them. i can't mention that what im out looking for to anyone because they will literally get on a motor bike and grab what you mentioned from a friend that sells it and chase you down trying to rip you off. dont get me wrong the people outside of the shop are pretty cool and extra curious about you and will talk to you all day but the store employees might as well call me muzungu.
the next person to ask me what i want is going to hear "for you to leave me alone".
