Hi There, I have a 2008 Polo 1.6i. I recently used my car to boost another car because the battery was dead. The next day I noticed that My Dash Lights are not working, The back light of the radio isnt working. I checked the manual and there is no fuse for this. The back lights for the electronic windows are also off, as well as the number plate lights

Lord I wish my mk4 jetta looked like that. mine is all black and melted. The neg terminal corrodes like crazy and the positive gets hot as fuq, I replaced the alternator cable with a much higher gauge, Replaced the neg terminal and checked all the grounds. I cannot solve this problem. I have no idea what causes it but it being my main vehicle scares me to drive my kids around in it.
Suggestion you requested: I seem to have an air leak in my diesel injection system that is TINY ... so I cannot find it ... but its ENOUGH that sometimes I have to crank for quite a while, even when the engine is hot, to spin it enough for it to start on more than one cylinder. SO ... what's the fastest way to disable the glow plug briefly so I can squirt a little ether in there when its especially stubborn?
Why not run a tube from your air box through the fender. Fill the air box and crank it

Easy and cheap sensor to replace. Right there after air filter box.
Today while I was working in my Mk4 gti 1.8t Golf, I was removing a Nut that connects the water hose to the engine but while I was removing the nut with my ratchet I touched the BATTERY Positive ➕ Terminal while I was still touching the nut making contact with the engine then I saw sparks ✨ ✨ so I stopped and disconnected the NEGATIVE ➖ terminal to continue working on it. After I finished replacing the part I tried to turn on my car but I won't TURN On. Did I damage anything?
You can check the fuses, first.

I did the same thing except it started but it locked the steering I check the battery it’s putting out 12v and starts the car but what fuse would effect the steering?

it’ could be 4 things, your thermostat is faulty the temperature sensor is faulty your water pump can be broken or your rad fans aren’t coming on which is the module or the relay

AC stopped working in 111° heat, assumed it was a blown fuse or Freon but my car is fine on both of those. Is it a problem with the compressor itself? I replaced it not long ago so I have my doubts but hey a VW is a VW! If anyone knows of any other fuses on a VW GTI Mk4 please comment!
