Melancholic but hopeful. This is the way I'd describe this hauntingly beautiful song by Billie Eilish. Where the best thing to do is to leave, but it's also the hardest thing to do. This song expresses that feeling so well, and the raw emotion of the melody and harmonies is captured through the piano. Well, I'd say that particular 'someone' is not very well versed in music creation. The majority of songs, yes, pop songs, are composed firstly on a keyboard or piano, then they are modified with other instruments.
What you might've intended was 'not every song can be transformed into a piano ballad.'

When the party's over is one of my favorite pop songs, and that's saying something, because I listen almost exclusively to classical music and usually hate all rap. The vocals in this song, however, give it this wholesome and beautiful nature that one cannot pass on. It helps E major is such a light hearted and passionate key.
