Finally! A tour that shows the cultural diversity of Manhattan and realistic small/outdated apt. Thank you for including the history of Morningside, it’s so important to the area especially as more and more of the locals have been pushed up and out of Manhattan all together (first up to Washington Heights/Inwood, then to the Bronx).
It is Harlem.
I love how lived in and real this apartment feels. It’s not perfectly polished, and that makes it all the more welcoming and homey ❤
This is actually a Columbia sublet apartment. I live in one of those , they are priced at a lower price as compared to similar apartments in Morningside heights!
I couldn’t figure out why it was so cheap for the size because you absolutely cannot get an apartment that big in the upper west side for less than $3000/month. That makes much more sense!

Morningside Heights is a great neighborhood! But it is not the Upper West Side, UWS ends at 110.
Or, at W 96th Street.
It is Harlem.

and once again the university is on the wrong side of history, allowing/facilitating state violence against their students for speech. It's crazy how history repeats itself, once again the same types of people are wagging their fingers at the students who are somehow both "lazy bums" and "crazed, violent thugs", somehow ineffective at the same time they are too dangerous to be left alone.
you acknowledge the former legacy residents as Black and brown folks and the rampant gentrification of this neighborhood but still fall into the trap of calling it the "upper west side" smh. (it's HARLEM). it should also be noted the Columbia University is the largest private landowner in NYC with about 4 BILLION in real estate holdings, and they pay almost ZERO property tax.

Sounds like Columbia students are trying real hard to extend the border and be from the UWS 🙄😂 Appreciate you trying to give history but I’m surprised it’s off. Upper West Side ends at 110th (even just few years ago most considered it 96th but now Manhattan Valley is clearly included in Upper West). Morningside Heights is Harlem. Not surprised Columbia students aren’t claiming that though 😁

Misleading: she clearly has student housing. The rent is easily double that, but Columbia owns almost all the real estate in Morningside
