      Update since 2 years ago, I've had a Celica with the 2zz and recently just bought an ep3. Personally prefer the Honda because the variable valve range is more usable and the gear rations in the Celica aren't good enough to keep you in lift between shifts sometimes.

    Hi, great driving!! I have just bought a Corolla TS and I would like to enjoy it on track...
    What mods does it need to be reliable on track?
    I am thinking to change the gears of the oil pump with Toda or MWR ones and put an 1zz oil pan on...
    Do you think it's enough to be reliable on track or does it need something else??

    • @DimoS...
      @DimoS... Před 5 měsíci

      Is good mate but if you pass the 1.1g lateral pressure with semislicks need aftermarket baffled oil pan (like moroso) the 1zz oil pan is risky too for hard driving. Also the Oil pump gear is not necessary expect if you pass the 8.600rpm (breaks when mishift) Something very important is the oil in the 2zzge put good quality and strong oil like 0w40 mobil1 fs, 5w30 amsoil signature series, redline etc...I know manual says 5w30 but for me the m1 fs 0w40 is the best from everything I've tried. In the end the gearbox fluid is must! try to use redline mt90 gl4.

      @@DimoS... Thanks for the advice.
      I have already put Bardahl XTC C60 5w40 in the engine, and Motul Gear 300 in the gearbox!
      My car has 200.000kms, is it worth to replace oil pump? Is it a long job?

    • @DimoS...
      @DimoS... Před 5 měsíci

      @@tulliopinter7412 good oil and fluid choices! I have see many 2zzge with over 300.000 kms on 100%stock engine mate without issues or repairs, for me oil pump gear needs only if the car revs over 8.500rpm if you have the money and the time go for it! Its more safety, Toda is very quality choice 👌
      to install it, the side cap of the chain must be removed by the way, if you do, measure your valve clearances as well

    • @tulliopinter7412
      @tulliopinter7412 Před 5 měsíci

      @@DimoS... At that point, will be worth to change also the timing chain?

    • @DimoS...
      @DimoS... Před 5 měsíci

      @tulliopinter7412 if it has loosened and gone from the marks on the gears, yes, but I don't think so.
      change the chain tensioner as a precaution, it's cheap. I also think you know about lift bolts, right? End the valve cover gaskets and the little o-ring on oil spray bar is necessary to change

      @MilesNotKilometres Před rokem

      @Chris Chris I only used it so I got the most from the 99ron fuel but if I was ever to do it again I would bother. 1 note however, is remove the ESC fuse behind the glove box otherwise the car will try killing you on track. Most Toyota's suffer with this, but it's an easy fix in the Corolla.
