- Time to visit the bigger BOOK OFF stores here in Nagoya, Japan like BOOK OFF SUPER BAZAAR and BOOK OFF PLUS! Let's see if they have cheaper prices than HARD OFF!?

Hey Adam - Food and drinks seem pretty cheap in that supermarket. It would be at least double that here in $AUD for those buns. Conversion would be about 450Y. Cheap food/drinks and retro heaven.... I gotta get over there! Another great vid! Keep them coming!

Rockman 8 still cheap in Japan but more expensive in PAL/NTSC-U.

Book Offs are definitely good, Hard Offs usually just have a bigger selection. And especially for more obscure stuff. I've gotten my PC-FX, Pippin, front loading Neo Geo CD, Neo Geo Pocket Color, and Wonderswan Color at Hard Offs. On my second trip to Japan, I didn't go out of my way for Book Offs but would go by some on the way to other places. This third trip, probably the same, though I hope to explore Niigata, Fukuoka, and Nagasaki this time too. Book Off has been good for chipping away at the almost 100 Japanese exclusive GameCube games I need.
Hey there Adam same guy just changed my YT Channel icon. Fantastic pickups for sure. I remember Contra 3 back in the day and still holds up. As I said before huge Contra fan here. I have played that version of Darius on an emulator and it's very good. I need to get back into Mega Man. I have the digital collections for all the NES and SNES games. Mega Man 8 looks incredible. Once gain thanks for a fun retro game hunt.

You speak the truth, Mario Kart 64 is indeed the best one! Framerate may be all over the place, but item balance is the best and battle mode beats every MK hands down. I have some fond memories of Kirby´s Air Ride, City Trial in multiplayer is the way to go. Certainly a weird mode.
Surprisingly good prices at the Book Offs! Super Bonk is a bargain, it´s one I never found during my trip (but I did get PC Engine Bonk and Super Bonk 2). Excellent price for G-Darius too. Very nice video, the environmental shots adds to the experience!
Oh yea! MK64 did so many things right considering the limitations of the console's hardware. And I definitely agree about the battle mode being the best one!

Just a bit of clarification, that Crash Bandicoot game for PS2 you saw at Book Off was Crash Twinsanity, not The Wrath of Cortex. They have completely different boxarts in Japanese as well, and the former was marketed as the fifth game in the series, whereas the latter was marketed as the fourth game (at least, before Crash 4: It's About Time was released).
Oh Right. Got it. Thanks for the clarification. I wasnt completely sure about it. But since Crash Twinsanity looks so much different than regular Crash in Wrath of Cortex, I really didnt think it was Twinsanity.

In Nagoya i bought a Fzero CIB for 300 yen :D close to mandarake in a little "junk" shop, in Kyoto bought a NDS Lite for 900 yen and a SFC in 200 yen

@@RetroMoments close to the Nagoya Mandarake there's a place call Daiichi Ameyoko, you take the stairs to the second floor and go straight to the back, pass some audio stores and in a corner is the little junk shop, i bought some n64 games like Super mario 64 for 100yen, some sfc in box for 2000yen but those i couldnt take for space reasons.
cool stuff..that ps1 rockman game isnt a collection but just the 1st nes game in a shiny new packaging..basically xD

I have a Japanese Playstation 3 on the way so I can play my Japanese Playstation 1 games in 1080p. I also have Famicom carts of Rockman 2, 4, and 5.
Update: I got my Japanese Playstation 3 and I am happy with it. The Playstation 1 has an excellent Japanese import scene and I'm looking forward to playing those games in glamorous 1080p.

Yea Resident Evil 2 has been cheap in Japan for a long time now :D I paid more for my PAL version too but I prefer to have that game in English anyway.
Rule of Rose is just as expensive in Japan sadly. I saw it in the Lucky Cat Store when I filmed the first Japan video of 2023.

And yes. I have most of the cheaper titles worth having. I was pretty much buying only cheap games back in 2019.
Yeah, could be anything from scraches to a particular button not working. The one I bought was in perfect condition though. Just had the R-button defective which I fixed in a few minutes.
