As the story of 2 Kings nears the account of the Assyrian exile of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, the author describes a flurry of activity in both Israel and Judah. There is political, moral, and spiritual chaos throughout the region. In particular, the author gives attention to two kings in Judah, Azariah and Ahaz, both of whom ultimately turn away from the Lord.
