      Their opinions stem from self hate. As a black woman, 99% of the anti-black, anti-kinky comments I’ve heard in my life came from black women.

  • @nicolecurry203
    @nicolecurry203 Před 26 dny +34

    Well said. My thoughts as a Black woman is that it's so sad that black women are their own worst enemy. Honestly, I paid no attention to her hair, just her athleticism and her ability to be one of the greatest gymnasts. Other races didn't even notice or care about her hair. They cared about the competition and the winner. Those women on line that were talking about her hair have the same type as her, and they hate their hair, which is probably covered up in either braids wigs or a weave. BTW, I don't see anything wrong with her texture or type of hair she has. Other races hair be messed up and sweated out too when competing, its normal. Black women are really focused on the wrong thing, hair really.

Women we have to learn to support each other and not criticize. She’s the goat 🐐 look past the petty stuff and see what she has achieved in her 27 years of life. I think your opinion on the topic of Black hair depends on your view of Black Americans. Do you view them as a traumatized political entity needing to be saved from itself or do you view them as a marginalized cultural group capable of regulating themselves?
    Hair is paramount in Black American Culture. Of course, Black people are going to notice unkempt hair even if it is attached to one of their idols. We notice it, we mention it. Always.
    When we default to a fault-finding political lens, we often overlook the benefits of our culture (which bring us all together). It's not just hair to us! And let's not forget how we admire one another's hair too.
