  • Best Way On How To Attract More Deer To Any Size PROPERTY. Attracting deer and holding them is honestly pretty easy. Create the healthiest food source around and don"t over pressure the area. Food plots can be the best attraction for deer because we put love and care into them. We soil sample them, lime them and fertilize them. Natural browse doesn't get that attention. The whole point in a food plot is to attract deer.

      I selected a cpl spots for 2 very small kill plots i did this in late March, tilled the soil, tested it added lime then seeded 5 weeks later. My downfall was not spending enough time to fertilize,and supplement water through weeks of dry conditions. Therefore my plots fizzled out for this fall. Point being Steve,, get out there experiment and its fun doing this stuff and as Dave shows these food plots are extremely effective. Good luck out there Steve and enjoy

    Burning the forest floor when the leaves have dried up will clear small shrubs and fertilize the soil, allowing for more browse to grow and attracting many deer. Natives practiced this across nearly all forests in the east. It will create a more healthy, diverse, open forest perfect for hunting.

Should I mow it and fertilize it and plant some stuff or not? Since there’s a lot of movement through there already. Will it spook them because of the change? Then I let it grow the deer have a highway in the middle of the lane . What should I do to make it that much better so they stay on the property? I've got my soil sample back, seed and equipment ready to put in about a 2 acre plot. Just dont want to waste all that money to see it get torn up. I dont have a major hog problem but I do catch a few packs on camera. I avidly hunt them year round but still bring them in with all the corn and protein I put out. Thank you!

      Good question. I don’t have a lot of experience with hogs we don’t have them up here in the north. But the antler grow guys are down in Florida and they have major hog issues. I’ve seen some of there plots get tore up while being there. What they do most times is over seed a lot. Use more seed then recommended. Even then they can still get in there And root it up. I would say a 2 acre plot you would be fine. Yeah it may get some damage but that’s a factory large plot.

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  Před 4 lety

      the blitzer well depends on your goals. But with 1/8 acre of food plots that’s not enough to provide a year round food source so it’s going to be a kill plot. A plot you intend to kill a deer over. Corn and apples you have to constantly put it there. Food plot you plant it and leave it alone you don’t have to refresh it. Corn and apples run out Ans you don’t know not your left with nothing until you refresh it. Do both? Plant a food plot and throw some apples in it. Spread some corn. Honestly up to you. But a food plot done in the proper steps will far out way any apples and corn.

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Antler grow is not a fertilizer. It’s micro nutrients. Completely different.
      It will benefit you if the plants are still green and growing. Also depending what you spray and what state you are in. The plants have to be actively growing for the plants to ingest the nutrients. That goes with any foliar products.

      It’s 79 dollars for a gallon that does 5 acres with no shelf life with a sticker and surfactant already added. It’s super cheaply priced. You mix one oz per gallon of water. You don’t pour it out you mix it with water and spay anything green and growing. Food plots, natural browse etc.

    What do you recommend on the size of a food plot?

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Hard to say honestly. Depends on what’s around as far as crops and how many deer you have in the area. I wouldn’t go any smaller then 1/4 acre. And that’s pretty small and deer can wipe that out very quickly. Fall plots I would use cereal grains and mix in a little brassicas.

      Whitetail obsession outdoors I have a few shooter bucks, hand full of does and some spike horns, I have a field next to my house and want to put a plot in. I have a lot of acorns, hickory nuts and red berries on some shrubs. I kind want a plot where is fall/winter mix.

    In my property I only find big buck at night how can I make them come out in daylight

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Tough one. I just made a video about this yesterday. I’ve hunted several properties like that over the years. Majority of time it’s to much pressure. Pressure on the land itself and outside pressure. What other hunters are doing in the area. Doesn’t take much at all to make them nocturnal. Less pressure more daylight activity.

    How is deer cane a snack and not healthy if it has minerals which are healthy and good for deer

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  Před 2 lety

      Because it’s not. It’s a gimmick don’t believe all the stuff you see on tv and advertising. Of course minerals are good for deer. They get that from plants! Soil gives it to the plants and plants give it to the deer when they eat it. Want bigger deer? Improve the habitat and don’t rely on something in a bag.

    Gee deer never hang out in corn stalks to forage. Agree with needling food plots. Think you are wrong on deer not using corn as one of their many food sources. Also depends on the area and surroundings.

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  Před rokem

      Corn is a great attraction. But most people can’t plant enough to feed the deer all year long! So you gotta be realistic. Telling someone you planted 2 acres of corn and the deer ate it got a month and wiped it out is not a good thing. Good sources need to last all year. Plant accordingly

      @@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors I'm talking hundreds of acres. If I plant a food plot it's not going to be corn at the edge of a corn field. Agree to disagree we hunt in to totally different locations.

      @@kevinschafer1987 ok well if you are planting hundreds of acres of corn then there’s no argument. The typical good plotter is not planting hundreds of acres. Like I said plant accordingly!!

    I have 12 acres that are heavily wooded. And its all hill side. Is there any tips and tricks to feed and attract more deer? I would totally do a food plot but i dont know if i have a large enough area i also dont know if my plot would be able to get enough sun light?
