I'm going to say the building is being put to good use. Dawson's Physiotherapy Technology Program occupies a large part of the 2nd floor of the Forum. It is the only ENGLISH physiotherapy technology program not just Quebec but in Canada! It is a fairly new profession, I would know I'm a first year student. It is a fantastic program and a even fantastic faculty of teachers! Have your kids apply!
When I’m in Montreal to see the Habs I always take the metro to Station Atwater first and go to the Forum. I only saw one game there (California Golden Seals), but I still feel the presence of Ste. Flanelle. La fierté pour toujours!
Nonsense, the upper two thirds of the building is a university sports center complete with a fully functional hockey rink that seats a few thousand people under the original iconic roof. It's been done much better than the Forum's renovation was.
@@ducttape82 to put some emphasis on the original commentors point, he is correct in that the only elements of the building that remain original are the exterior walls and the beams holding up the dome/roof. The entire interior, including, yes, the original pad, has been completely demolished and reconstructed to be (with exception to the upper floor) an adaptive reuse. As much as the site may be doing well now, many might agree that much of its history and original charm was lost during its makeover.
We just throw away history and move on when something new and shiny comes along. The Bell centre is a great building but some day a long time down the road we will do the same thing we did to the forum. We will keep it on life support for a while and it will just die off and we will move on to something new and shiny. The only difference is we won’t be forgetting about 22 Stanley cups like we did with the forum. We don’t learn from the past so we just forget it ever happened and hope by some misinformed miracle things will be better.
Yes, the old Forum is now owned by Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp from New York City. They instructed building management to remove the Centre Ice circle with the two Canadiens logos and to replace the floor with white tiles. They also removed the original section of Forum seats. Wiping out history for no reason. What a shame 😞 The Department of Heritage should step in and do something!
Just sad. I used to make fun of my Leaf fan friends when they turned Maple Leaf Gardens into a grocery store. Better than what the Forum is now! Black and empty and ugly...so sad.

I didn't know they'd taken down the rocket's statue, the stands, and center ice, very very sad....
Its so sad. Why not turn it into a Habs museum?
Forum should've been refurbished!! Just like MSG, Fenway Park & Wrigley Field. Fenway & Wrigley are over 100 years old & are still viable stadiums.
I had an awful lot of fun there in the 90's :)
awesome experience
Has it been 25 years already? 😱 _Tempus fugit_ ... 😢
I’m from Toronto. Same situation with the old Maple Leaf Gardens now a Loblaws. Only thing original are the 4 exterior walls.

😃😀🙂👍
The whole area is sad
Taking down the statue of The Rocket? Travesty.
Happens when sold to careless new owners ,without Canadian Montreal Heritage values .

Very sad indeed 😞 At least they kept the nice exterior of Maple Leaf Gardens and still have a hockey rink on the top floor.
