How To Build A DIY Acoustic Panel Cloud WITH LIGHTS | For A Recording Studio!

- We build a sound-dampening cloud to hang from the ceiling that incorporates lights for the recording studio. We built three of these with the intention of building more in the future. This is a great way to control sound in the recording studio by reducing the floor to ceiling reflections but ALSO to incorporate AWESOME LIGHTING! This was a fun one! Say hey to my dad making his video debut!

ME TOO!
I'm currently mid studio build also. Not at your scale, but still this video gave me some good ideas. Thanks!
Looking great Jeremy! Look forward to the final product.
This was fantastic!!! My husband is an electrician. I’ll just have to do the woodwork etc. Thank you so much for sharing!
He will do a better job wiring than we would then! Haha
Looks great !
looks awesome!
Killer content ! Happy you did this ! :)
great vid badass studio cant wait to see more progress
J... You’re the Cooliest! This is gonna turn out so great! 💫
Thanks man! Hope
Your doing well!
Awesome!!
Exactly what i'm going to do the next days. Except i don't use boring black but the old spiderman- and cars- bedshets from my nephew. :D
They were out of spider man when I went………….
@@RecordingStudioLoser black is beautiful ... and timeless ... and i'm just jealous of your studio anyway. :)
Love your videos, man!
Cloud came out great! Appreciate the useful information and dad joke.
BRO I LOVE IT SOOOO GOOOOOOODDD
Man I really enjoyed this video! I have made 2x4 wall sound panels in my room, but always felt a hanging cloud with lights was out of my knowledge/skills. This video was perfect, it certainly looks doable. Thanks for the great video's, SO PUMPED for you and your new space!
Definitely doable!
This is amazing. Continually impressed by your work ethic.
Thanks man!
I'm doing almost exactly this but I want to use fiber optic lights to get a starry night / space kinds feeling for my home studio, the vibes are truly gonna be out of this world!
Ok seriously I know that was a bad pin but this video rocks man tysm for sharing the knowledge!
proud of you, my man! making it
better than how you found it :)
Cool
Awe3some video man, they look amazing. Giving me ideas for my new space, thanks so much. Subscribing now. Also, idk if you figured out something for printing on your fabrics. But I used to make shirts. and a simple setup of a plot cutter and a heat press is relatively cheap. and its easy to design and cut vinyl and press it onto the fabric. or print out full color images onto the vinyl and heat press it on. Its SUPER simple to make some awesome stuff. Thanks again for the inspiration.
Looking great! What about placement? I want hang a cloud above my desk and another above my drum kit.
Enjoyed the video. Looks like an awesome creative space. Did you ever find a place where you could get things printed on material to customize your panels?
Those look like the ones i built for my studio.
Definatly my future project. Btw my room has a problem it is having 6 corner instead of 4 does it really affect the acoustics?
Did I miss the rock wool installation? How did you attach the rock wool? Staples on the back side? Does it sag on the strechy material and make it puffy?
You just lay it in the Frame. It doesn’t need to be attached. It just chills in the box you make for it.
It can stretch fabric when hung. But if
You buy stretchy yet strong fabric you will fine.
how do you secure the Rock Wool? Is it just resting on the fabric? I had to run support wires across the panels because over time the weight of the rock wool stretched the fabric and they got saggy over time, but I don't have trim around my panels.
I shoot nails through the middle and outside pieces to kind of grip the insulation. But if it drops I can add bracing when needed it hasn’t happen with older ones in the studio though.
I was about to ask the same question;)
I'm currently building an absorbing cloud w/ lightning following a very similar design. I'm considering using chicken wire to secure the fiberglass panels. Any other suggestions?
Nice vid! Pops has got some jokes. What your ceiling height here?
Right at 10’
Yeah he does!😅
Cool idea, not a big fan on how the electrical was ran.
Although the panels, What lights are you using on the ceiling? They re dope…
They were just run of the mill LEDs I got from my local big box store. Honestly the cheapest thing I could find.
Love the lighting! These look great, however, I'm a little concerned if you covered the rear of the clouds, as if not, will open fibers may be getting moved around by air conditioning, and then breathed in. Depending on fabric that you choose, you may also experience sagging over time with flexible fabric if you don't have supports. I hate posts like the one I'm writing btw... I'm just sharing my experience... =-(
They are covered! And the sagging is always a possibility. Make adjustments. There’s always the possibility of adding bracing, etc. it I went with a pretty strong fabric. So I’m not to worried. The other ones ha going the studio for 2+ years have yet to sag.
@@RecordingStudioLoser that's great to hear...er....read...? Again.... I hate posts like the one above...
you aren't going to put insulation in them?
There is insulation in them. We put it in as I hang them in one of the time lapse sequences. Pause at 9:47 You'll see it
Well… your space is really big my friend…
