I just got my locs a month ago and my hair is exactly like your mom's hair. I went to the 1st loctician, she said my hair was too straight and soft but the next Loctician did them with no problem! So I can relate to your mom and I am loving this journey!

I love your moms spirit! Her hair is beautiful... so glad she didn’t listen to the first lady she went to. People always told me my hair was too soft and fine to loc but I’m one year and 4 months in and loving every minute of it. Our hair takes a little longer to fully loc but it still is able to.

Omg your mom has the same hair texture as mine. I wanted to get locs last year but people told me there will be breakage as they get long. I started them in july this year and may i tell you, it was the best decision i ever made. Looking at your mom it assured me that i wasn't alone. Thank you for that❤

I have 3b/c and 4a hair type. I have always loc my hair. This style seems to work better for my hair type. I learn that my hair needs to be left along. I am now on my 4th journey and starting over again because my hair has turned gray and I refused to color. I just can’t believe that people are saying that certain hair type can’t loc. it doesn’t matter whether it’s fine, thin or whatever, you just have to be patience, and don’t used a whole lot of products and your locs will thicken up. I only used coconut oil once a week, and spritz with water everyday because I live in a hot climate.

I've been told many many years ago before locs became popular as they are today I was 30 years old then I am now 63 and been having the hardest time trying get my hair locked never seen this channel before and I'm happy I came across because my hair is very curly and I went some years ago to have my hair locked but it unraveled the next day so I never tried back so this gives me some confidence I just have to find the correct persons or people or locticians that know how to lock curly fine hair I love your mom's hair it looks great on my journey to continue to for once and for all have my fine curly hair locked I do not want fake braids or extensions I just want to stop off with the real deal fine hair locking thank you for this CZcams video.

Hi Alexis. Your mom's hair is beautiful. I have thyroid disease and my hair is thin at the top. Like your mom, I made my locs smaller at my crown to make them look fuller. I've had to combine some because the parts would not withstand the shedding. I'm learning more about my locs and what they need as my hair grows. Your mom doesn't have much shrinkage so I don't think she has 4c hair. Coily girls like me deal with a lot of shrinkage lol. I love her singing. Thanks for introducing us to your beautiful family.

I love this video. People tend to get thin and fine mixed up, just like they do with thick and coarse. Thin and fine are two different things. Thin hair is the amount of hair on one's head, the density just like thick hair is the amount of hair on one's head. Thick hair has more hair. Fine is the hair texture, the way it feels just like coarse is a texture. Fine is a softer texture than coarse texture. My hair is a fine texture, but it's more of a medium density. It's not thin or thick.
This is exactly how much hair I have. I started micro locs and to my dismay, I only had 25 locs on the 4 back rows! I almost stopped until I saw this video.

Oh my goodness I had a loctician tell me I couldn't loc my hair because of it would keep unraveling because its curly. She told me if I wanted locs I had to do it by braids. well my daughter did comb coils and it turned out just great. Yeah to your mom for not listening .

Your loc journey is like a spiritual journey.
Learning to love yourself regardless of what is on the outside is sometimes hard .. thankfully I have someone who encouraged me to cut my hair when I didn't like how my hair was behaving (I've been natural 6 yrs but I cut off my hair every 2. Braids kept thinning my edges even though I did them and they're never tight.. idk) to then encourage me to get my locs started when I was back and forth on whether to relax.
I'm excited to see where my hair goes. It's only been growing for 4 months and I did my starter locs on the 5th. Took out a few today and resized them. I feel better with the size now.. I'm scared and excited lol.

Hi Alexis your Mom has a lovely head of locs. 3c and maybe some 4a texture. All hair can lock if not combed or brushed for a long period of time. Your Mom has a beautiful singing voice and I love your nail color. Another very informative video keep up the good work See you next week.

So glad I found this video, comb in hand I was ready to take these little thin unraveling locs out. This is truly a hard journey for me. Its been a month, an I'm still wondering if my hair will loc. After seeing this I have hope.

Loved this. I’m new here and contemplating how I’m going to start my locs BECAUSE I have hair similar on texture to your mom’s. It’s coily (and more s coils) and fine but finer and less dense in the front… I was going to start my own micro locs as a result, but don’t want the front locs to be too weak.
Anyways, I love this and I think your videos confirmed for me that seeing a loctician for a consult may be best at least to determine how I should start my locs.

I’m soooo glad I found this video! I have the same texture as your mom! I’ve had my locs since January this year and the top part of my hair looks thin but isn’t just like hers. Some are skinny some aren’t. She’s given me hope to keep them cause I was gonna c mob them out . 🙏🏾 what care routine or products does she use to take care of them and keep them moisturized?

Her texture looks similar to mines, my hair was thin when i started my locs and started growing out quickly. My edges filled out. I had to comb them out because they grew out crazy and started doing a lot. I started with coil starter locs which wasn't a gd idea for my texture hair. 3B/3C/4A About to start again with two strand twist
This is exactly my texture throughout my hair .. a mix of 3c .. 4a .. curly and fine .. most beauticians wash and then think I have chemicals in it but they just have never had experience with my texture of natural hair .. then they say they have to cut off damage part.. there’s no damage.. Now I am fed up with them trying to tell me about my hair in which they know nothing about

Nice my hair is thin and curly as well I started with sister Locs but they became to thin so I two strand twisted some of all of them to other loc to make them stronger so now I’m waiting for them to loc and a lot of my ends look just like hers

Hey auntie! 😂😍 lol ma is so silly!!! Great question. Cutting to the new growth isn’t necessary. Ma didn’t cut her straight ends. I can say natural coily/curly hair may loc faster than straight strands. But I think cutting to the new growth is more of a preference! 💗😊🥳
Your mom's hair is beautiful Alexis. She and I pretty much have the same texture/ density hair, curls at the end and nuff frizz. I think mine is 3c/ 4a. I started with braidlocs. Part braid, part two strand twist. I interlocked at the root because from past experience with full twists I knew my hair wouldn't keep. True to form even the braidlocs would unravel when I wash. I found out the braidlocs would take longer to loc so I opened them up. I changed to two strand twist to encourage thicker locs and faster locking. I'm now almost 3 months loc'ed and some( the ones at the crown and nape) are still loose hair but I'm still trying to get them loc'ed. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for being here and sharing your story with me!!! Have you tried to do a hybrid around those areas that aren’t loc’ing yet? Maybe try a braid at the root and a twist down the remainder of the loc strand. I’ve heard that as a successful way to reduce unraveling 😍 I hope it helps!!! Please keep me updated :)
@@AlexisHarris Yes, I have tried that. Absolutely nothing works. I'm past 4 months now and still struggling with those areas. I think the only thing that might work is using a crochet needle to instaloc. So far I've tried the hybrid method you mentioned, full braid down, interlocking at the root w/ four point rotation. Also tried full two strand twist, comb coils, finger coils, even tried using a loc product for hair that's resistant to loc'ing. They unravel with my daily hydration routine. Rest of my hair is coming along beautifully though so that's a plus😊
@@caliciajames1252 I have had the same issue! I have locd my hair twice now and tried all the things you have. I think you might need to just leave those bits that refuse to loc up alone 🤷🏾♀️ in time they may agree to loc but I think I might have to embrace the nape and edges never locing

I have thin fine hair. How many locs does she have? I just got mine done yesterday and I wanted 100 locs and I got 147 and now I fear they will be too thin when they mature.

My hair is curly and definitely knots easily cause I constantly just throw my hair up and don't brush through it lol so when I do I have a lot to get through. So I know my hair can definitely loc but as I said don't know whats the best method
Hey, Stacy! Thanks for being here 😊💕 your hair sounds like it’ll give you a very exciting loc journey!!! I think plaits/braids may be your best approach because it sounds like twists or coils may unravel too frequently. But since you said your hair knots easily, it may not matter which method you choose! Keep me posted 🥳

No worries, you can start over 💖 you’re not stuck. Now’s the time to undo them. My mom took down her first set after a week because she didn’t like it. She loves this set now!!!

My hair is really thin especially in the top. It’s a little thicker in the back so I did my locks. The top is a little thin, but I take it to account that I lose between 50 and 100 strands of hair a day not to worry because at the same time you’re losing hair your generating new growth so just imagine all the hair that you’re not losing it’s going back into the lock, so it’s gonna thicken up because you’re not combing you’re not brushing it it’s just going back into The so not to worry just let it do it don’t twist too much and it’ll be fine

Great question! I think it may take longer to loc but it’s possible 🙏🏾
Yes you can and it will take longer to loc but you can use a method called interlocking to help with the unraveling. But hairstylist usually would charge more for interlocking.
