  • Nzulezu is an isolated village built on stilts on lake Tadane located in the Jomoro District in the Western Region of Ghana. The inhabitants of the village are said to have migrated from Walata, a city in ancient Ghana Empire. Over 500 people live in the community. All traditions and everyday activities take place on the lake, such as school, worship, etc. Nzulezu is unique, after wandering on the village and bonding with the inhabitants, I visited the village hall where I met with the chief who recounted the history of how the choose to settle there. I inquired about the school and the teachers as the place is not an easy place to travel. He said the government only posted two official teachers but that wasn't enough to each all the kids in the village so the community employed 4 additional teachers whose salaries depends on the donations from visitors. Being part of a community myself, a community that not only develop the grassroot sports but also take care of the warfare of young people in Nigeria, I made a donation to them on behalf of Pitstop Community Lagos.

I was wondering about that myself, but when I thought more on it about the Catfish and what they are employed to do, I came to the conclusion that the eco-sysyem is a self cleaning mechanism that cleanses itself, so therefore it is possible that the water there is clean as long as there are no man-made chemicals added to destroy the eco-sysyems ability to filter and cleanse itself. Only my theory. Js
