    Coming from a high mileage V70R, it's so nice to have the reliability of the Polestar. The VR was reliable, but did need more constant maintenance. I hope the P* stays this reliable when it hits 150K.

    Yes!!!! Once again thanks for the great Volvo content! Glad it's been good to you. My 2L has been reliable. No issues.

    Ive had my 2016 V60 P" 3 years now, love it to death, not a single issue with it so far.
    Ive done the KW swap you mention, aswell as front and rear swaybars with powerflex suspension bushings. The improved handling from the sway bars is incredible, cant recommend it enough, the rear sway is really cheap and easy to swap aswell!
    Next up is Recaro Sportster seats in the front, forged wheels are on order aswell!

      I only have the Polestar software on my V60. I need to do the rear sway bar because handling is absolute dogshit. If it wasn't a 2017 I would do the Polestar suspension.

    Within the last two years I have acquired a 2015 V60 T5 Drive-E and love it for what it is, and bought my wife a 2015 S60 T6 R-Design and love the performance it has. I also just recently bought a TDI box for both cars but haven't had them on long enough to evaluate them in all the different modes as both are set on the lowest level right now. The wife doesn't even know it is on her car. I appreciate the content on all the Volvos you have done over the last few years. Keep up the great work.
    May God Bless you and your family.

    We bought a 2015 v60 rdesign with the I6 last year. My word, its a fast and comfortable sleeper. We were just looking for a wagon to replace our 22 year old forester, saw it online and did no research. When they handed us the keys for our test drive at the dealer and said "be careful" we weren't sure why. Hit the highway and realized what they were talking about as its a pretty serious machine. People dont expect it to be fast at all and the interior is beautiful (no touchscreen! Yay. Can't stand them). Took my father out for a drive when I first got it (was making fun of me for buying a boring volvo) and when I punched it he was quite surprised by the push back and exceleration lol. Our only changes were to 18" wheels as the big ones were pretty harsh on the chewed up roads around here. Doesn't look as good but what can you do? Can only imagine the full polestar must be that much better. Nice videos, pretty much the first ones I watched after the test drive and during our final deliberations bedore purchasing. Great in the snow up here in Canada too. A sportscar that's great in the winter means 12 months of fun. Take care

    sounds like your keeping it. nice. we can enjoy more v60 polestar content. ive got a 2018, its a blast. I love it. mines black as well. I like the black and white idea. I thought I would go racing green or black cherry. I see so many flaws in wraps and it would drive me bonkers, maybe i've just seen poor jobs, so I ceramic coated and that's that for a while. I do enjoy the speckle in the paint

    I’m just over 1 year on my P* myself. So far I’ve replaced the rear shocks as one was leaking and the ignition coils as one had some corrosion and was causing a misfire when the temps went negative. Otherwise, rock solid

    Almost nobody paid $62k for the 2016 V60. MY16 didn't sell very well and most Volvo dealerships offered huge discounts on them. I got $10K off my 2016 brand new from a dealer in Vermont and most of the members on the Polestar forum who purchased 2016 got at least $10K or more off sticker. My Polestar sat on dealers lot for 6 months before I found it. 7 years of ownership and my Polestar has been the most reliable vehicle Ive owned.

    You said some people apparently don't like the tire stickers, but I think they look great! They match the polestar blue, and gives a good custom accenting to the car. Most bright colors can work with black when done tastefully like this V60!
    Hope you still have the car!
    From a c30 owner who would've gotten a v60 if I had known about them AND had more money!😂

  • @TheUchihaKid

    I've owned this car for a half a year now, and man it's been a dream. I have the 18' variant in Ice White and I've seen absolutely ZERO problems with the 4 cylinder. Been good to the car, going to be putting on new Evolve Brake pads this weekend, I don't plan on anything big performance wise becasue it is my daily... but man i wish I had all the money in the world to buy another, rip it apart and turn it into something that could rival Hoonigan's Family Huckster. HAHA could you imagine a Volvo wagon with huge canards, rigid bodywork, AND active areo?!?! Man maybe one day LOL. But yes obviously I love the car and so does everyone who has the pleasure of riding along with me.

    90,000 on my 15 V60 drive E 2.0l 4cyl some fuel sensor trouble, electronic thermo broke, otherwise normal maintenance like tires brakes battery etc hoping to keep it going to 200,000 or more we will find out how realistic that is as time goes on but so far so good. 😁

  • @ciabutnot7723
    @ciabutnot7723 Před rokem

    Have you done any preventative maintenance or transmission longevity minded upgrades? This car uses a modified Aisin Warner TF-81SC, not quite sure what tweaks Polestar did to it but it wouldnt hurt to add a thermostat and a larger oil cooler (theres a factory thermostat upgrade and an oil cooler can be hooked up inline with the heat exchanger)
    I'd also look into a Level10 valvebody upgrade since the TF80/81 valvebodies wear prematurely and an upgraded VB will help the trans handle more power.

    • @ciabutnot7723
      @ciabutnot7723 Před rokem

      Oh, theres also haldex upgrades available to make it full time 50/50 awd capable.

    Recently bought a 2010 V70 2.4D Polestar. I can say, it moves. Driven a Hellcat. Fun like a Hellcat I guess. I putted the pedal to the floor and had tons of fun. Then I sat down in my 2003 S80 with 140 bhp and yeah. It was lame. Then I bought this when I crashed my S80, and I fricking love it.
    I dunno but 0-60 in 6.4-6.8 seconds. I do not know what or how much upgrade was on, but it was an Polestar-upgrade. Generally makes 20 bhp more with more responsable gaspedal and it is auto so instead of shifting in 3 400 rpms it shifts in 4 200 rpms. But for 195 bhp, the original was 175 bhp, it feels more than 195 for sure. Even my brother got a V70 with 220 bhp on regular fuel not diesel, he tested my and said: "Well, sure it is diesel, but mine doesn't got a chance on this car. Darn, it moves."
    Well, the thing is it is weird. Mom and dad got a 2010 D5 manual transmission, dad tested mine and said. Nope, ours didn't got this amount of torque and it was on 205 bhp. I don't think it is 195 in this one. It must be way more. Something is fishy here, but hey the car runs well."
    I mean, mom and dad have owned D4 and D5's since 2010, now they own a XC60 2018 D4. So yeah, I guess it is something with my car. But on papers it is a 2.4D and got the Polestar badge on it. But that's all. No 2.4D badge on it, just the blue text Polestar and on the right side the blue Polestartag. Tested a double turbo 2010 D5 before this one that I bought and the torque that it had wasn't where mine are at all, yet a lowmilage car as my car. Yet so slow in the acceleration. Sure it was a punch in that car as well. Dad was with me when we tested that car. But I bought the 2.4D unseen, so my dad wasn't with me when I brought it home, so he also said when he tested it. "Darn this car got even more punch in it then the D5 we watched and tested last week".
    Bloody weird. But hey, I can drive 1 200 km to 1 300 km in one tank when I stop putting my feet to the pedal. But it is soooo darn fun. You really feel the suction to the seat, just like the Hellcat.

    Volvo engines often produce more power than designated when new, for example, my Volvo C70 D4 2-litre diesel, with 100k on the clock, had it put on a roller, and it was producing 182 bhp instead of the published 177 bhp despite having 100k behind it !

    Is it reliable to upgrade the car's engine parts? I tried to look all over if its good and "healthy" for the car, just to get a few more hp out of the 2 liter engine, but all of the polestar owners in my country say that any upgrade will damage the car. Every mechanic says something different. As of now i didnt even find a video of someone who upgraded his intakes, turbo, stage, or even air filter..
    Can someone tell me from experience?
    THANKS

      Pretty sure the general consensus on modifying newer Volvo is that you can do very little before reliability may start to decrease. I’d say if your looking to build a race car buy a turbo honda or LS, if you really want AWD maybe an RSX or something. I’d save the Volvo for a near stock daily if I had one

    • @shiftinglanesgarage
      @shiftinglanesgarage  Před rokem +1

      Depends on your use. For a daily driver, any trim is great. For a bit sportier, R design. For the full beans, Polestar. It’s a great car overall so any trim you can’t go wrong with.
