    Can you explain the Cannabis from the '80s that we grew had calyxes full of resin. Back then we thought this is where the THC come from. You did not see the trichomes on the plants back in the '80s but we still had some really strong weed that would put you in your seat after two tokes. Today's weed is completely different. We haven't seen anything like that in these newer strains including the potency. It would be really awesome if you could make us a new video strictly on this. We had buds that were dripping with resin literally on certain strains and I'm sure it had a lot to do with how we grew it.

    • @DeBaccoUniversity
      @DeBaccoUniversity  Před 2 lety

      An image of the structure would be helpful but this does not sound possible. Through selective breeding this could be brought back (ideally at least).

  • @3ddiev
    @3ddiev Před 3 lety +10

    Love this, thank you. Do you know how these different trichomes effect the extraction rates of rosin? Even when lab tested for potency a lot of users find that some strains do not press as well as others. I'm just curious how the different trichomes come into play here. Thanks for this content 🙏

    • @user-yr9qn6bk6o
      @user-yr9qn6bk6o Před 3 lety +4

      The trichome structure itself doesn't have the material we're looking to extract. We're looking to extract the material only from the inside of glandular trichome heads. There are many variables that contribute to how well a plant works for extraction including head size and thickness. Potency is not one of them however.

I'm growing the seedlings in cheap potting mix, and the younger veg stage plants in peatmoss believe it or not, and my plants seem to like it, I just treat it like I would coco and have had decent results, also have noticed my autoflowers will never give me trichomes until week 2 or so of flower, while the photos so far have been all giving me a lovely peek into their terp profiles. As at 6:03 in the righthand photo, the stalked glandular trichome has a darker interior, appearing like a dark Non-glandular, but dark orange/brown. I haven’t heard of a cystolithic trichome before only cystolithic hairs, which dont have anything to do with trichomes as far as i’m aware?
