    I'm no Cowboy fan, but as a football fan, Romo was just SO fun to watch, you gotta miss the guy being on the field. He was the Buster Keaton of QBs, either falling on his face or making crazy scrambles and throws, talented as hell and pure box office enjoyment. Never got a ring but what a good time he gave NFL fans, in both drama and comedy. Glad to see him crushing it in the booth now.

Would take 2 years to finally beat Philly in 2009 for romos first playoff win. Thwn wouldnt win another playoff game til Detroit 2014. 2009-14 not ho to playoffs? Garbage. Garrett is garbage

    I was about to make a joke about Buffalo losing despite forcing _six_ turnovers off of Romo, but honestly, this made me appreciate Romo more as a player. Games like this are where you really differentiate the good QBs from the great QBs. A good QB will throw in the towel on a night like this, a great QB will keep on firing until the clock hits zero. Romo probably played the worst game of his career that night, but when Dallas needed him to win, he did it. That's partly why I don't care for people blindly pointing to the box score stats of a game to prove a player sucks. They really don't tell the full story.

    • @SmugTomato
      @SmugTomato Před 4 lety +5

      @@TheLocalLt It depends. Romo was a great QB for his era (arguably the most underrated QB to ever play), but he had an embarrassingly bad game here. Most guys would have called it quits at that point, but Romo never wavered and kept firing, and when Dallas needed him to step up and deliver, he did.
      I guess, what I should have made a little more clear, is that pointing to INTs is not a good way of judging QBs. They make up such a small sample size of a QB's production, and you really do have to watch the tape and judge for yourself. Yeah, Romo played like trash here, but in the end, he still came out on top because he kept firing.

Then when that obviously wouldn't work, he would then do his own thing in the second half. The parallels between this game and the Bears @ Cardinals game from the season before are wild.
    Both games were on Monday Night Football. Cowboys came into their game 4-0 on the road against a bad team, while the Bears came into their game 5-0 on the road against a bad team. Both winning QB's, Grossman and Romo, had six turnovers. Both the Bears and Bills scored all three of their touchdowns on two defensive returns touchdown and a special teams return touchdown, in the same order. The winning team of each of these games ended up being the Number 1 seed in the playoffs.

      Actually, Maher could kick 60 yarders easily. The 63 yd FG he made (far below the sea level of the record 64 yd in Denver) would have been good from 66. Sadly, he lost his mojo and was horrible in 2019. Lost his job. Never was known as an accurate kicker, but had the leg and gave Dallas one great season before he imploded. It should have tipped hem off when he was not only missing FG's, but having trouble getting the ball into the end zone on kick offs.
      Baily was money, but when kickers get injured, they typically lose it. He followed suit, but wasn't all that bad after coming back. Dallas took no chances and got rid of him. He promptly went to Minn and regained his provenance. Not like he was in Dallas, but well above league average. Right now, he still has his job in Minn, while Maher is in the unemployment line.
      I suspect that Dallas will have a new kicker in 2020. Forbath isn't the answer. Some kid fresh out of college I suppose.
