This includes 14 classic #Atari #arcadegames & 50 #Atari2600 console titles! Games played include: #Tempest, #SuperBreakout, #Telepathy, #Centipede, #CanyonBomber, #MajorHavoc, #Bowling & more! Some #Arcade1Up fans complained when this was pre-released that the #joystick was in a bad position. What does real day use feel like? And what's my final verdict?

When it was announced, most we're like "Who asked for this?", but in execution it looks really classy and true to the 80s space age aesthetic

I just put this together last night and couldn't be happier with it. Game play and fit and finish are great. I'm 6 ft and don't have any issues standing to play, but also enjoy playing sitting on my burgertime stool. These games never get old to me.

I love the look of it! I have heard some say in the arcade1up community how tacky or overstated it is, but i love it ;) you truly dont see all those 50's when you have other cabs beside it, just the other 3 lol :) its a great cab, truly. deserved an A+! my first A+ for any a1up cab so far! thats saying something
I have the Arcade1up 12 in 1 from four years ago. This cab seems light-years ahead of it.
it totally is! and the great thing is i still play this cab at least every other day, all these months later ;) It's great
I am 63 now and totally lived the 70's and 80's arcade mania. I actually purchased a brand new, in the box Gravitar commercial game in the 80's from a company in N.J. called Betson, I believe. For around $2200. Which was alot a money in those days. When most games were $.25 to play, that game wa $.50. And extremely difficult, so it died on the vine.
@@ericdjahn Oh yes, Gravitar still is a very hard game for me, i actually have improved my gameplay of that one after having played gravitar recharged on the vcs, which made me love that title for the first time in my life. i also have a tempest atari legacy arcade1up cab (feat. gravitar and a spinner, too) i'll review that one one day soon ;)

I love the look of the centipede cabinet and I missed on getting it so im for sure getting this cabinet.
the atari 50 cab has this game and i think the screen is miles better, plus tons more games! check out that review too
I kinda want one of these, looks great, missle command with the trakball is the selling point to me. But that assembly looks like a pain.
The assembly on this one was actually easier than for previous arcade 1 up cabs, and I’ve put together several! About 2 hours. Totally worth it imho 👍 thx for watching

Yeah, in the home arcade community they really knock it for it's looks. But I like it. I'll definitely be getting this one after I pick up Tron. My only concern is the button arrangement and playing Asteroids / Deluxe / Graviter with them, but the more I see, the more it doesn't seem to be an issue. I'm a serious Atari fan and like this cab a lot!
I like it, alot. im sad that people didn't give it a chance, but would they anyway? if it looked like anything else they'd say the same things i feel. atari still gets the rando hate at times but this is why i like to air positive coverage from an atari fan who tries to be partial :)
Personal caution on the Tron cab. My spinner started malfunctioning 2 weeks in and I know other gamers have experienced similar issues.
I put mine together last night. It is bad ass.

@@slaapliedje haha, i play it better on this since the spinner works great, i have this game on my asteroids countercade by arcade1up and you have to use the buttons the spinner sucks so bad, glad they fixed it

the spinner on super breakout seems too sensitive to me its a shame that no adjustment for the spinner sensitivity.
you can mod it apparently, but i dont have the time, its fine as is for now, thanks for watching

Great vids on this new cab! Your vids convinced me to finally buy it 👍 Can I ask a favor, Can you measure the height of the '50' logo on the front, below the coin door for me? That's the ONLY thing I'm not a fan of, and I'm looking to cover that up, just personal preference. But since I just placed the order, I'm looking to know the height of that 50 so I can do the cover up before assembly. Thank again!

Many in the A1Up community I’m sometimes part of made fun of it, it’s actually a great cab with empty cart slots on the 2600 game side, and they had a firmware update already. I think it’s great! Yea, I was so dead set at buying the Centipede cab for about 6+ months now, but I was greedy and waiting for it at any sort of a discount, which never happened. And then all the sudden, all 12+ outlets that sold it, instantly "sold out". Maybe because they want to promote the Atari 50, who knows? But I did really like the Atari cab initially (let's be honest, for the money it's just the better cab) BUT... I love that centipede artwork! But your vids convinced me on the right decision not to overpay for just art work. Thanks again! Best wishes to you and Happy holidays!

Too bad they didn’t leave a space for the plaque. On the Galaga machine I put it right above the coin door without covering the logo.

This looks so amazing IMO, and no riser, better screen and the 2600 games to boot. But, over double the price of the Cetepede cab here in the UK, does it justify the extra cost?🤔

Here it’s $50 cheaper than the centipede, and yes I feel it’s worth it, it’s got the same arcade games mostly, better screen. Plus the extra 2600 games. Thx so much for your comments. That’s made my day 👾

Centepede is £249 here currently, with the Arcade50 at £599. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Centepede cab tonight, the price is just too good and I think I can live with the negatives.

Hey Glen, thx for watching & for your reply! 5 months later, this is still the only a1up cab out of 9 that I play every single day, it combined 2600 console games, includes prototype games and the included 14 arcade games are amazing to play, love the leaderboards, and it even shows now if you're playing on an Atari 50 cab or on a centipede cab, my only complaint is the zany controls when you play the console games, and they only use the joystick as input not the other methods, those are for the arcade games only, the volume toggles down many levels, btw, maybe I should do a 5 months later review ? Thx bud
Yeah, maybe a 6 month follow up review/final thoughts would be great to see. Also… what does the “LIVE” button do? All these reviews for the Arcade1Up Atari 50 and no one mentions what the LIVE button does! Maybe it’s supposed to be a mystery! LOL! Appreciate your channel and content! Keep it up!

Interesting product, assembles like all of the other A1Up deluxe cabs I've played with but this has THE WORST screen to control panel angle of the group, which is a borderline deal killer. It wouldn't take much to improve but it's a glaring issue compared to something like the similar size Midway Mortal Kombat II Deluxe cab. Why they didn't tilt the top of the screen back 2" (plenty of room to the back of the cab) and make the speaker board slightly deeper to compensate I don't understand... but it's a major design flaw that makes the cabinet almost unplayable without a stool or riser for an average 5'10+ adult.. which kind of defeats the purpose of the Deluxe form factor and is not a problem with the other 3 cabs in the same series I have. The spinner also doesn't work in the 2600 games that would have supported the paddle controller which is another dumb oversight.
I love mine, and I play it almost daily, I respect your take though, the panel is just fine for me, I agree that the spinner could be used way more, but it’s my favorite arcade1up cab out of the lot I own, 10 or so, and it’s packed with fun and good times, thx my friend
@@ballistik_coffee_boy It's a beautiful cabinet with a great line of titles, it just has some weird oversights like the spinner not working in 2600 titles that support the paddle controller on real hardware, and the terrible screen angle that take what could be a legendary cabinet and make it flawed but beautiful instead of truly excellent. It's not like both of those should not have been caught in product QA/beta testing so I feel like it was a "just ship it" sort of decision. I want A1up to make great things but I am not going to give them credit when they fluff up on a $500 product on easily remedied in development problems either.

I love the great collection of tiltes, esp "Telepathy", the unreleased mindlink Atari demo, which I play this Friday on my series 'Java Junction.' I def hear you. I wonder if this could be addressed via a wifi update? We already had 2 which helped improve online connectivity and sound. I have similar issues with the rest of my A1Up cabs, as well, and in my reviews I either mentioned it (the terrible screen on the pacmania cab, for instance) and factor that in with my score. On the Atari cab, the paddle issue you mentioned didn't bother me, nor is the lack of 2 player in the Atari console games included.

I'm unsure, but I like to focus on what it does have rather than what it doesn't. No one is ever gonna be 100% happy with a compilation cab like this. I still play it daily and love it ;) Thank you
Being too small, having very few arcade games and missing their most creative ones, screaming paint job and glaring panel, they will alienate most arcade fans. But they likely have a cabinet already, and use it when they don't want to play emulation. For the emulation, it seems the PC/RPi inside isn't very powerful, or the game list would be so the early/simple games, and they don't emulate in hardware, so it alienates those that are into emulation as well (and most have LEDy and glary fighting sticks etc, granted). But there's a reason the glass was toned and the panels matte, and no glaring hot LEDs.
If you don't mind the size I guess you could keep the monitor and panel and replace the rest, and maybe style it. But IDK about build quality, those screws looked iffy.
You also get 50 emulated console games - it's just... IDK anyone who plays these anymore (as in: retro content on Twitch). And that's fine - maybe they want to change that. But no Activision games break 8-bit hearts as well. And the console games are very limited and kind of not impressive in an arcade expectations setting.
This is from someone who saw Atari 8-bit and Atari Games as innovators and probably the best among the competition, until the crash. Some of my best memories comes from playing Atari arcade games, I've owned two cabinets that I had to sell to move for work, and looking to buy another dedicated original Atari cabinet within a few weeks and give it lots of TLC.
This cab was built alongside Atari & for the fans, so i think with that being said its a great cab for "us" hardcore fans who cant afford or fit a real arcade in our homes, of course original is best, i wish i could have those but just dont have the money to, i do appreciate those that do, though. for faux arcade, i love this ;)
wish they had put better atari2600 games on it!
Slight annoyance for me with the 50 2600 games, is why include the likes of Asteroids, Centepede, Missile Command, Tempest etc when you already have the actual arcade games on the cab? Yet miss absolute classics like HERO.
What would be really cool would be if you could purchase additional 2600 games to add to your library.
Absolute classics. But unobtainable from activision. Atari or myarcade simply can’t include them without striking a deal or owning the IP’s. They put in the cab what they could. Considering what they had to work with, its a great cab and people should give it a second look. It’s my top fave out of 10 arcade 1 ups! That’s Saying something. @@ballistik_coffee_boy yes I suppose I see that issue, still I feel they could have added more variety in Atari gems rather than repeating the actual arcade games. Would love to you if you will ever be able to buy more, those blank carts in the list seem to hint that.

I know depending on where you are its different, for the main arcade games, you hold down player one to go back to main menu, on the atari 2600 games i believe you hit player 2 or player 1 to go back. Let me know if that works ;) -BCB hope youre enjoying it like i am!

Hey, what is the spinner like? How is it in comparison to the Tempest, and Centipede cabinets? I am asking because I own the original Atari 12 in 1 cabinet with the terrible spinner so I want to upgrade to a different cabinet and I'm not interested in the Atari 2600 games so maybe I can save money by getting a Tempest or Centipede cabinet but I want to know what the spinner quality is like on all 3 cabs. Can you help me out with that? Thanks.
I have the terrible spinner on the tempest cab and i hated it too, this one works much better imho, on super breakout it was spot on. on my asteroids countercade, the spinner sucked on that one, too, so this is definitely a step up imho, thanks for watching
You can definitely upgrade that spinner to the GRS spinner which is fantastic. I've done that to my 12-in-1 and my Asteroids cabinet and it makes it incredible. The singer is well balanced and solid. If putting it in the 12-in-1 you also need the extra interface board. I highly recommend doing the upgrade.
@@ballistik_coffee_boy- The spinner for Tempest was better than the previous ones, but if I could upgrade it, I would.
@@andys_gameroom You don't need it with this cab, the stock spinner is FAR superior to what they put in the tempest cab, it's weighted and spins like it's riding on a bearing which is more like the GRS spinner than the prior A1Up versions. The trackball is the usual gritty mess but that's simple enough to fix with a bearing swap.
